So if you had a to guess who was leading the American league in innings who would your guess be? CC Sabathia, he's a horse. Johan Santana, he is the best pitcher in baseball? Dan Haren, he is leading the AL in ERA? How about James Shields of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, when would his name cross your lips? Never? Have you ever even heard of James Shields before?

I tried trading Sosa, Mora, and Bill Hall for Shields, Chad Gaudin, and B.J. Upton like 6 weeks ago and the guy wouldn't budge. I had to settle for Penny and Capuano. I like Shields because his WHIP (Walks/Hits per inning) is so low. That is a great sign that he will be a stud starter.

Shields is super for me cause I'm in a weekly move roto league with IP as a category and he never throws less than 7. It's awesome.

Today, Johan Santana is turning 30 years old! The ace that was traded to the Mets last off-season from the Minnesota Twins, is loving New York! After coming off a minor injury, if you can even call it minor, Johan is looking for another successful season with the Mets. In the first year at Citi Field, hopefully Santana can lead the Mets to their first World Series title in 23 years.

2008 Fantasy Baseball Elite SP Rankings: Keeper League Draft Values
I admit to being slightly anti-pitcher. As a group, pitchers seem so unpredictable. Who recalls Cardinal's SP Chris Carpenter's ADP last season It was 29, and he was the second pitcher taken after Johan Santana (6 OA). I againm admit to some fear of wasting valuable $$$ on pitchers. As a...

Santana had to go
The Twins tried to make a last-minute offer to Johan Santana by offering him a five-year, $100 million offer. Santana and his agent, Peter Greenberg, rejected it so therefore, the team had no choice, but to trade their ace.

It's a bit of a double standard, aside from Johan Santana who hasn't taken the mound as of yet the Mets starters who are guaranteed spots have been less then impressive. But all we've heard about is the fifth starters spot and how bad the candidates have been; Livan's been ok, Freddy awful, ...
Wade?s Band-Aid Fashion Statement is Over
When Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat injured his left eye after taking a blow to the face from Charlotte Bobcats forward Juwan Howard, he wore a band-aid to protect it. It seems, however, that Wade took to wearing Band-Aids just a bit longer than he needed to. The NBA has banned Wade, and other players, from wearing Band-Aids as a fashion statement as Wade donned band-aids with...
