Found February 20, 2014 on Bush League Chronicle:
PLAYERS: David Price
TEAMS: Tampa Bay Rays
David Price can do much more than just pitch in the major leagues. Apparently, the Tampa Bay Rays ace can play matchmaker too.ESPN anchor Sara Walsh and Oakland A's prospect Matt Buschmann are now wife and husband thanks to some ground work laid by Price. The story begins several years ago when all three were living in Nashville. Walsh was a local sportscaster while Price and Buschmann were teammates at Vanderbilt. Buschmann was interviewed by Walsh on a few occasions and her presence clearly left an impression on the young pitcher. In 2012, Walsh had moved up to anchoring SportsCenter, Price was throwing darts for the Rays, and Buschmann was trying to work his way up Tampa Bay's system to join Price. During an interview with Walsh, Price mentioned how much Buschmann had adored her in the past, and suggested the two follow each other on Twitter, which eventually led to a direct message. The rest is history, folks. The two were married last month in Florida with Price in attendance as a groomsmen.Via MLB Cut 4 (Photo: WKRN)

Rays pitcher Grant Balfour brings massive truck to spring training

One more reason not to mess with Grant Balfour: this is his truck.— Tampa Bay Rays (@RaysBaseball) February 19, 2014The picture you see above is a shot of the truck 36-year-old reliever Grant Balfour is rolling around with during spring training. As you can see, the vehicle is absolutely massive, ridiculous, mind-boggling, and all of the above.Just look...

David Price shrugs off skipped bullpen session

LHP David Price said there were no reasons for questions, much less concern, about his decision to skip Wednesday's bullpen session. Simply put, pitching coach Jim Hickey made it optional, and the Rays ace, who had been throwing at the Trop for weeks before heading to camp, took him up on it. "Just took a day off," Price said. "I didn't see the need to throw...

Rays' Ben Zobrist has tight back, David Price is fine

It is a good news-bad news situation for the Tampa Bay Rays regarding two players who have missed their most recently-scheduled workouts. First, the bad news, which may turn out not so bad. Second baseman Ben Zobrist missed his infield drills on Thursday because of back tightness. This announcement came from Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.Zobrist not on field for #Rays pop up...

Wil Myers tapes camera to hat for bird's eye view of spring training workout

Looking for a new spring perspective? Wil Myers is happy to oblige. The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder and last season's American League Rookie of the Year wore a GoPro camera throughout Wednesday's spring training workout at Charlotte Sports Park. The results were interesting. The camera provided a bird's eye view of Myers' action -- from the clubhouse to the fields to...

Nope, nothing ostentatious, gaudy or showy about Grant Balfour’s behemoth truck (pic)

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Grant Balfour rolled into Spring Training in the above truck. Yep, it’s extremely large. And ridiculous, over the top, extravagant, pretentious or whatever synonym for ostentatious you want to throw in there. Why on God’s Green Earth would Balfour ever need such a ginormous vehicle? Is he planning some kind of […]The post Nope, nothing ostentatious, gaudy...

Rays owner opens wallet to keep team competitive

Four trips to the playoffs in six seasons hasn't changed Stuart Sternberg's expectations for the Tampa Bay Rays. The goal entering spring training each year may be to play deep into October, however the club's principal owner rejects the notion that anything short of reaching the World Series would be a disappointment in 2014. Even after an unexpected offseason of spending...

PHOTO: Rays Pitcher Grant Balfour Drives a Rather Unique Truck to Spring Training

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Grant Balfour drove--this 'thing' to spring training. I hesitate to call it a truck, because it looks more like a tank with wheels than a truck. Why on Earth someone would want to drive something like this is a mystery. It must be because he wants to spend most of his $4.5 million salary this season on gas--but if he wants to take the whole pitching...

Slick-fielding Escobar finds a home with Rays

Yunel Escobar is coming off the best season of his career, and the Tampa Bay Rays believe their slick-fielding shortstop can be even better in 2014. The native of Cuba shrugged off a slow start to post solid numbers offensively a year ago, however stellar defense was his biggst contribution to a team that reached the playoffs for the fourth time in six seasons. Largely viewed as...

2014 Fantasy Baseball: Is Wil Myers Actually Being Overlooked?

– Wil Myers: OF -Photo by: Minda Haas I am not the biggest Wil Myers fan. I own no shares of him in any dynasty or keeper leagues, and I did not own him at all in any league last year whatsoever (I participated in five). I see his flaws and understand what they are, but I still think he is being underdrafted.Read the rest of this article by logging in or purchasing The Fix'...

Inspired to Eat Last: Author humbled to become man behind Rays' slogan

Day after day, three words have been given life at Tampa Bay Rays spring training, their popularity a call to arms to make the 2014 season special. Leaders Eat Last. Play the last game. Win the last inning. Savor the last celebration. The catchphrase surfaced last Friday in Port Charlotte, Fla., where manager Joe Maddon revealed that third baseman Evan Longoria had read a book by...

Grant Balfour has a truck big enough to tow Noah’s Ark

Hey Grant Balfour, I don’t think your truck is quite big enough. Maybe next time you can get something that you might actually be able to haul a few loads with. I mean it only has four wheels? That’s it? Weak sauce, man. And if you’re able to clear a freeway bridge in it, then […]

Zobrist shares growing optimism

2B Ben Zobrist reported to Rays camp Tuesday with the same positive outlook on this season as those who reported earlier in the week. “I feel stronger about this club than probably any other club that I’ve seen in Tampa Bay,” Zobrist said. “I feel that this club has the goods to be able to go all the way, and not just the goods, but the attitude. “This year I feel like...

Joe Maddon is spending his Spring Training in a nice RV

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon is spending his Spring Training in a custom $300,000 RV dubbed “Cousin Eddie”. The RV comes equipped with four TVs, a kitchen, 1 1⁄2 bathrooms, a dishwasher, a washer and dryer, a king-sized bed and two fold-out beds. So basically, it’s nicer than 75% of your apartments. Maddon likes the extra storage, although apparently it doesn’t get...

Photo: Grant Balfour’s truck is ready for the zombie apocalypse

I'm not saying that Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Grant Balfour is a prepper, but judging from his massive truck, he is ready for the zombie apocalypse.
