The Debut is not just being anticipated by the Pirates, but also Wandy himself.  Wandy will be going up against the team he has been pitching for since he broke into the Major Leagues 8 seasons ago.  As he stared into the Houston Dugout during the first couple of games in the series, you have to wonder just what was he thinking?

On Thursday it was Starling Marte, tonight it is Wandy Rodriguez.   Wandy is a solid major league pitcher, that possesses a great curve ball.  A curve ball this Houston crowd has depended on for 8 years to help their team win.   Now, the fans have to get used to rooting against him and his curve ball.  I am positive that he will be well received by the crowd tonight, but I just wonder how HIS emotions will hold up.

GM Neal Huntington did not want him to have to face his old team right off the go, but he new eventually he was going to have to face them.  Neal was trying to work with his turn in his old lineup along with not disturbing the current Pirates Rotation.  The more they looked at it, the more they realized it was better to just get it out of the way now.   I am just not sure who it is better for.

I have stood behind this deal since it had gone down.   I think it was a good pick up, especially for what the Bucs gave up.   That said, Kevin Correia was the odd man out, and all rumors point to the fact that he wants traded now.    He wants to be a starter.    I do not blame him.   To be sent to the bullpen after being a starter for so long, has to be hard.   Especially since he has won his last 6 decisions.    Here are some stats that make his frustration not valid though.   His ERA is 4.24, and in the last 6 victories, he  has given up an average of 3 runs a game and has not gone more than 7 innings one time.

The Pirates were able to pull out a victory last night as the Astros figured out another way to lose.   This is what bad teams do.  Houston is clearly a bad team.  Although Wandy may have dome emotions going regarding pitching against his old team, it really will be nice to pitch for a team that is competing for something.   At least we would all hope that is what he is thinking.
