I contacted Yankees beat writer Peter Abraham and he gladly accepted my request to do a Q&A for my blog. He was nice enough to answer a bunch of questions. You guys should check out his blog: The LoHud Yankees Blog Q&A with Peter Abraham: Me: What is the best part about being the Yankees beat writer? Pete: Getting to see so many baseball games. I really enjoy watching the games. ??????????????????????? Me: Since you started covering the Yankees in October of '05, who has been the most entertaining person in the organization to write about and cover? Pete: I've enjoyed writing about Johnny Damon and Jason Giambi. Chien-Ming Wang, too. ??????????????????????? Me: Who would you say has the best chance of being a Yankee next season? Sabathia/Burnett/Teixeira/Ramirez Please Explain. Pete: It's way too early to say that. I'd probably say Derek Lowe. ??????????????????????? Me: Where do you see Phil Hughes next year? I think he ended his season on a high note. Will he build up innings in the AFL and come out with a strong showing in ST? Will he earn that 5th spot in the rotation? Hard to say, but if he is healthy..any projection for wins next year? Pete: I think he'll be in the majors as the No. 5 starter after doing well in the AFL and having a strong showing in the spring. I really have no idea how many games he'll win. It would be a total guess. ???????????????????????- Me: Where does Andrew Brackman end up next year? I know he is currently pitching in the Hawaiian Winter Baseball League. What level in the minors do you think he will start at? What do you think his future role is with the Yankees? Pete: I'd say he starts next season with Class A Tampa and ends up in AA. His future is as a starter. ???????????????????????- Me: When do you think Austin Jackson gets the call to the big league club? He has been raking in the minors, but at the same time he is young and could use more time in the minors. Pete: Jackson could be a September call up. But not a full time player until 2010. ???????????????????????- Me: Do you think Alex Rodriguez gets a World Series ring with the Yankees when it is all said and done? He will certainly have many opportunities as he is locked up for many years to come. Pete: At the moment, you would have to think he'd get at least one over the next nine seasons. ???????????????????????- Me: It's early to say..because the off-season just started and changes haven't been made yet, but do you think the Yankees will make the right moves to be in the fall classic in 2009? Pete: I'd have to say no. Going from out of the playoffs to the Series is a stretch. But it's certainly possible if they improve the pitching. Thanks to Peter Abraham for answering these questions. We may be able to do a Q&A with others as well.
