I'm not sure who coined the phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity", but I'm willing to bet Alex Rodriguez doesn't agree. Wednesday, some excerpts from the upcoming Michael Gross book House of Outrageous Fortunes were released and among the claims...juicy rumors about the New York Yankees slugger. According to the New York Post, some of things revealed in the March release...Rodriguez was an "unfriendly narcissist" and liked prostitutes. Usually "two at a time".  But let's be honest, there's really nothing new here.  It's just now going to be conveniently laid out in book form for some of us to read.  For starters, who doesn't think the slugger is a douchebag?  And the prostitute story?  “The allegations concerning prostitutes are 100% false," Rodriguez’s spokesman Ron Berkowitz told the New York Daily News, "and therefore the author of the book cannot possibly have a single shred of evidence to back them up.” Hold on, these rumors go back a few years. In 2009, while the whole Elliot Spitzer story was making front page news, famed New York City madam came forward saying not only did she provide the former MVP with hookers, but she also dated him. "Throughout the years, there were a number of clients that I befriended and it was not uncommon for them to want the women they can't have whether it be the phone bookers or the madam," Davis told the New York Daily News.  "In regard to Alex, all I can say is our paths have definitely crossed personally and professionally." Getting back to the Gross book. An employee at A-Rod's pricey pad told the author, “He got hookers all the time. Usually two at a time, two times a week. One time he had two go up, they came down and left, and 10 minutes later, Cameron Diaz walks in.” So, outside of the obvious (people seemingly want to bury Rodriguez), I guess what makes people stand up and take notice is how the guy blatantly went about his business. Thoughts? (Thanks Deadspin)
