Alex Rodriguez — who is already getting enough press for his alleged involvement with performance-enhancing drugs — is happy to know that a long awaited book about the New York Yankees slugger's  life has been shelved by its publisher. A source told The New York Daily News that A-Rod thinks it's great that a book about him, being written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ben Cramer, will never see the light of day. Cramer, a noted reporter and journalist, had been working on "The Importance of Being Alex: A Life With the Yankees" for several years before falling ill and dying. The tell-all book was slated to be released in April 2014 with new secrets about the controversial player. While the book is a no-go, A-Rod is a no-show at the team's spring training camp while he recovers from hip surgery. Insiders believe the third baseman's absence is due to the drug allegations and to keep a media circus from disrupting the other players.
