Found March 26, 2013 on The Other Paper:
Alex Rodriguez's surgically-repaired hip seems to be coming along quite well these days.  The New York Yankees third baseman isn't letting the rehabbing hip or MLB investigators breathing down his neck about that pesky Biogenesis thing keep himself from getting around the Miami area. The Yankees slugger was spotted Sunday with his girlfriend Torrie Wilson and golfer Greg Norman taking in Maria Sharapova's match the Sony Open the day after dining with two friends dining at Bianca in the Delano in South Beach on Saturday night, reports The New York Post. A-Rod, who's in rehab after having hip surgery in January, stood up and talked with New York Giant Andre Brown, a source told The Post.  The spy said Rodriguez "looked happy and in great shape." Hey. Any bit of good news from the Yankees M*A*S*H Unit is great news these days — even if it is about the team's pariah.

Lady's Choice 2013, Part 1: The New York Yankees

It's that time of year again. Prediction time! We will start this year's version off by focusing solely on the New York Yankees. For the first time in a long time the Yankees are not the favorite to win the American League East. Their new fiscally conservative attitude along with their age and mounting injuries make it hard for many people to believe they will be one of...

Yankees release David Adams

Photo Credit: In order to make room for Vernon Wells on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have released infielder David Adams, according to WFAN’s Sweeny Murti. Adams, 25, was originally drafted by the Tigers in 2005 but didn’t sign. In 2008, the Yankees took him in the third round. Last year, Adams hit .306 with eight homers and 48 RBIs in 86 games. Overall in his five years...

Lonn Trost and Yankees cry uncle on StubHub; will allow electronic tickets

Remember the whole to-do this winter about how the Yankees came up with their own ticket exchange system with Ticketmaster, snubbing StubHub? And how the only way Yankee fans were going to be able to print out electronic tickets on the secondary market was with the Yankees Ticket Exchange? And that because of this, StubHub was going to have to open up a location by Yankee Stadium...

Jeter will not play in minor league games until next week

Derek Jeter will begin the 2013 season on the disabled list. Jeter last played a game on Saturday and was still sore in his surgically-repaired ankle the following day. The Yankees have already committed to starting the season with their captain on the disabled list. Jeter could miss more then just the Opening Day game against Boston though. Jeter will be out of any game action until...

Deja Vu all over again

The Yankees will enter the 2013 season without an offensive-minded catcher for the first time in about 17 years. The departure of Russell Martin has left much to be desired offensively from the current crop of backstops, mainly Francisco Cervelli – who figures to be the starter -  and likely backup Chris Stewart. The situation this year is very similar to what happened in 1996...

Yankees complete trade for Vernon Wells

On his first day with the New York Yankees, Vernon Wells recalled a game in the International League more than a decade ago and he saw Darryl Strawberry in uniform for the opposition. ''I remember the first time I played the Triple-A Yankees, when I was 20 years old,'' he said Tuesday. ''It was the first that I actually got goosebumps playing against another...

Today’s transaction was announced by General Manager Jerry Dipoto. Cayones, 21, spent the 2012 season playing for New York’s Single-A Staten Island...

Wang Feels Great Being Back in Bronx

From LoHud:“It was an easy decision for me (to sign back with the Yankees) because I never wanted to leave,” Wang said. “… It’s like back in the day. This was my first team, this is where I started. I feel great.” Wang said there were “four or five” teams interested in him, all looking into minor league deals..... Although he knows he’s heading to Triple-A...

Yankees panic and acquire Vernon Wells

I’ve already speculated that, when Brian Cashman broke his ankle skydiving March 4, that maybe he also unknowingly hit his head, because some of his moves and intentions this spring have been, well, questionable, if not downright nuts.   After the Yankees general manager acquired Angels outfielder Vernon Wells on Monday, I’m almost sure Cashman must’ve hit his head.   The...

Red Sox release Lyle Overbay

One Red Sox roster battle has reached a resolution, as the club released first baseman Lyle Overbay from his minor league contract today. After signing with the club on February 1st, Overbay spent spring training competing with recent acquisition Mike Carp and converted outfielder Daniel Nava for the backup job at first base, but ultimately fell short due to the restrictions of his...
