Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher have been benched by the New York Yankees for Game 3 of the AL championship series at Detroit on Tuesday night. It's the second time A-Rod has been benched this postseason. He's 3 for 26 in the playoffs so far, including 0 for 18 with 12 strikeouts against right-handers. Detroit right-hander Justin Verlander takes the mound Tuesday against New York, trying to help the Tigers to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Swisher has struggled about as much as Rodriguez, going 4 for 26 this postseason. Eric Chavez starts at third base in place of Rodriguez. Brett Gardner is leading off and playing left field, making his first start since April 17.

Torrie Wilson brushes aside A-Rod report

Alex Rodriguez’s girlfriend seems unfazed by a gossip report that suggested the Yankees player was trying to cheat on her. Nick Swisher hurt by Yankees fans criticism

The New York Yankees are currently down 2-0 to the Detroit Tigers in the American League American League Championship Series, and if anyone knows New York, it’s no secret they’re some of the most passionate fans in the world. Unfortunately, that passion can swing the pendulum two different ways. The Bronx Bombers haven’t played anything close to their best baseball against...

'Sensitive' Swisher says Yankees fans blaming him for Jeter's injury

Nick Swisher is a lot of different things to a lot of different people — overrated agitator to opponents or pie-throwing cheerleader to his teammates. But one thing the gregarious New York Yankees slugger never thought he would be is an outcast with his beloved Bleacher Creatures out in right field. Now it looks like the crowd favorite is hearing things from the fans he's...

After A Rain-Out: A Recap Of And Thoughts On The Alex Rodriguez Saga

Judging from the way the Yankees have handled him, it is safe to assume that we have seen the last of Alex Rodriguez in the 2012 postseason. It does not even appear that he will pinch hit going forward. How did it come to this? And, why? When Raul Ibanez pinch hit for A-Rod in Game 3 of the ALDS, I understood and applauded Joe Girardi for the move. It took guts to remove a player...

On some Yankee fans' blatant double standard when it comes to booing

I got a variety of responses, both on Facebook and elsewhere, to my article defending Nick Swisher's complaints about Yankee fans booing him. Click here to read what people said in the comments section of Subway Squawkers. Thanks to everyone for weighing in on the subject. Anyhow, the whole thing got me thinking some more about when and where Yankee fans boo.Since we started...

After being benched in Game 1 of ALCS, Alex Rodriguez apparently hit on two female fans

Alex Rodriguez is having a rough postseason. And with Yankees president Randy Levine unwilling to commit to A-Rod for next season at this point, who knows if this is the last postseason that we’ll see A-Rod in pinstripes. One tidbit that probably won’t help A-Rod’s chances of returning to the Yankees is a report in the New York Post that A-Rod wasn’t fully focused on Saturday’s...

With the New York Yankees offense continuing to sputter, manager Joe Girardi will attempt to jump start his flatlining team by bringing in the bench.  Does he really have a choice? No pinch hitter for A-Rod -- he isn't even in Yankees' lineup
