New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left hip on Wednesday and it is believed that recovery from the procedure means that A-Rod will be out of the Bronx Bombers lineup until mid-July, sometime around the All-Star Break. The surgery, performed by at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York by Dr. Bryan Kelly reportedly “went as planned and without complication,” according to a statement released by the facility. But before the surgery, demonstrating he has a flair for the dramatic and an understanding how to ratchet up the tension, A-Rod uploaded a photo to Facebook (above) of himself moseying down a hospital hallway with the message, “Thanks for all the prayers & well wishes. I’ll admit I’m a little nervous, but I’m in great hands.” See? Even A-Rod can feel nervous at other times than when strolling up to the plate for a postseason at-bat. But even better is that A-Rod uploaded a photo of himself to Facebook following surgery, in which he gives a thumbs-up and informs his followers and fans that “Surgery went well! The road to recovery officially begins … looking forward to the challenges ahead.” Good to see. And while it is safe to assume that she was present to support her man, A-Rod’s girlfriend, former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson, is not pictured in the photo. Perhaps she is taking the photo. Or maybe Wilson was dispatched to A-Rod’s house to pick up his centaur paintings to spruce up the sparsely decorated hospital room. Can’t help myself with that damned centaur painting reference. But think about it: If A-Rod were in fact a centaur, there would have been no hip surgery for him. Nope, A-Rod’s fate would have been much, much worse if that had been the case. Also: Centaurs would need to be real for that Glue Factory Scenario to play out. Obviously.
