Scott Kazmir rose through the New York Mets farm system – ranking as one of the 12-best prospects each year from 2003 through 2005 by Baseball America. In 2004 between A+, Double-A, and Triple-A ball he had a 2.50 earned run average while averaging just over a strikeout per inning. That same year he was then traded to the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays for right-hander Victor Zambrano, who went 10-14 with a 4.43 ERA in a lackluster career with the Mets. Last night, Kazmir faced his original team while as part of the Cleveland Indians and reminded the Mets of the potential that each side had for another in terms of growth. He went six innings giving up four hits, and no walks and or earned runs allowed. He also fanned 12 batters which was the second-most that he had ever totaled in a single game. Kazmir only needed 97 pitches to get through six innings. On the season so far, Kazmir is 8-7 with a 4.17 ERA and a 8.7 K/9 ratio after 25 starts. He has always been plagued with command issues b...
