With many blessings come many opportunities, both good and bad, and those competing interests will likely try to pull the St. Louis Cardinals in opposite directions during the offseason.

The Cardinals have an abundance of young pitchers who all throw hard, have excellent command and helped carry the team to a World Series appearance in 2013, but the team also dearly needs a shortstop who can hit above the .217 mark shortstop Pete Kozma did this past season or the .238 batting average of his backup Daniel Descalso.
With the World Series complete, Major League Baseball is currently filled with shortstops who are either free agents or possibly trade chips for their respective teams.
