Sully Baseball thinks there should be a stat to give Scott Feldman credit for Monday’s win in Texas: So Feldman doesn’t get the start. He doesn’t get the win. He doesn’t get a hold. He doesn’t get a save. He gets gotch. Sure he gets to have a low ERA and nice stats. But there SHOULD be a stat, shouldn’t there? A “Hey Nice Game!” Stat. A “He saved the bullpen” Stat. A “Let’s not let this go unnoticed” Stat. When Bill James came up with win shares, he basically assigned three win shares for each win. Maybe the official scorer should be allowed to assign three wins per game. The traditional winning pitcher could get one, but two other players might get one as well, or all three could go to one players who had an outstanding game. For example, Chris Carpenter would get all three in his game five victory over the Phillies. In the Texas game, Nelson Cruz and Scott Feldman could each get a win share. Alb...
