ARLINGTON, Texas While the Rangers' overall picture improved with Thursday's 9-7 win over Oakland, concerns about set-up Mike Adams have blossomed.
Adams gave up three home runs in the eighth inning, after allowing just one home run all season.
In fact, Adams had never given up more than one home run in an appearance his entire career before now.
Rangers manager Ron Washington remained steadfast that he has no concerns about Adams as the division race winds down.
"He just had a bad day," Washington said. "Prior to today, Mike Adams has been nails."
Actually, Adams hasn't had a 1-2-3 inning since August 27. His velocity has dipped recently, indicating he could still be dealing with the right shoulder soreness that caused him to sit seven days in September.
Adams received a cortisone injection after allowing two hits and two walks and getting just two outs in a 26-pitch outing on Sept. 11.

Texas Rangers rookie pitcher, Yu Darvish, still remains a question as to if he will be able to start once Sunday rolls around.

The Texas Rangers have far fewer stolen bases this year than they had a year ago. A lack of aggressiveness? Hardly, according to manager Ron Washington. "I think we've been too aggressive," he said. "I think teams are doing a lot more to stop us, and we aren't getting the opportunities and we're trying to force things. We are out of rhythm. You get...

Ryan Dempster does not enjoy facing the Angels. In his first appearance as a Ranger, he gave up eight runs in 4.2 innings to LAA. In his second round with the Angels, he only lasted 3.1 innings, giving up five runs in that time.
At least he lasted a little longer tonight, but his luck really wasn’t any better.
Dempster pitched just 5.2 innings, and gave up four runs on seven...
