ERIE- The Akron Aeros fell to the Erie Seawolves Saturday night 4-1 at Jerry Uht Park. The Aeros’ offense was ineffective against Erie’s prominent pitching, while the Seawolves took advantage of Akron’s starter Paolo Espino.
Espino pitched five imperfect innings for Akron, striking out five of the twenty four batters he faced and allowed four runs on five hits. His performance earned him his second loss of the season. Espino has recorded the highest number of strikeouts on his team with 55, but has also allowed the second most runs.
The Seawolves offense wasted no time taking advantage of the right-handed pitcher in the first inning. Centerfielder Daniel ********* a two run homer to put Erie on the board.
While Akron’s bats continued to be ineffective the Seawolves struck again in the fourth inning. A combination of some hits and a throwing error by Carlos Moncrief pushed Akron’s deficit to 4-0.
