LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A.J. Ellis hit an RBI single in the ninth inning, Hanley Ramirez hit a tape-measure, three-run homer in the first against Cliff Lee and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 on Saturday night. Philadelphia's Chase Utley homered in his first two career at-bats against Hyun-Jin Ryu. But the Dodgers won for the seventh in eight games, bouncing back from a 16-1 loss Friday that was the franchise's most lopsided at home since a 19-2 rout by the New York Giants on July 3, 1947 -- during Jackie Robinson's rookie season. Ramirez led off the ninth against rookie Justin De Fratus (2-3) with a single before Matt Kemp took a called third strike. De Fratus walked Andre Ethier before Ellis lined a 2-2 pitch to right, scoring Ramirez. Kenley Jansen (2-3) got the win. He came in trying to protect a 3-2 lead in the ninth for Ryu, but was charged with his third blown save in 10 chances as a result of some shoddy defense by his teammates. ...

Bochy: Puig no lock to be all-star

Yasiel Puig may have taken Major League Baseball by storm, but NL All-Star manager says the phenom still has to prove himself if he wants to play in the midsummer classic.

Yasiel Puig Continues to Make History With Awesome First Month

The Dodgers had to pay a lot to get Puig. They wanted to protect their investment so bad that even though he crushed the ball during spring training they sent him down to the minors in hopes he would mature. A bad season and injuries forced them to call him up earlier than they wanted. And the rest has become history. kla4067/Flickr When the youngster was called up...

I wonder if Hanley Ramirez was excited about the walk-off win?

I guess so.

The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled out a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night, thanks to the walk-off heroics of A.J. Ellis. A night after drubbing the Dodgers 16-1, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Cliff Lee matched up in a battle of dominant left-handed starters. The Phillies didn’t waste any time getting on the board on Saturday: second baseman Chase Utley continued...

Skip Schumaker Pitches Scoreless Inning. Phillies 16, Dodgers 1

The Blog doesn’t have a lot to say about last night’s 16-1 embarrassment against the Philadelphia Phillies. So we’ll focus on the one positive here, and let the readers off easy. Skip Schumaker pitched a scoreless 9th inning.  Brushed batters back.  And got the last guy he faced to strike out.  Schumaker was the only Dodger pitcher last night to not allow a run. Here’s...

John Lannan had three hits and pitched seven solid innings as he Philadelphia Phillies blasted the Los Angeles Dodgers 16-1 Friday night in Los Angeles. It was the worst home loss for the Dodgers since playing in Brooklyn. I'll just let the box score speak for itself this time... Yasiel Is The New Normal. Dodgers 6, Phillies 4

Yasiel Puig doing something remarkable is becoming so common that it hardly qualifies as news anymore. The young Cuban phenom seems to be able to handle just about every pitch thrown to him.  If he makes a play that looks bone-headed, he usually makes up for it an inning or two later by making a play that drops jaws.  A hard throw to get a runner taking an extra base.  A diving...
