By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer --  2013 Outlook: "It's Albert, freakin', Pujols!". What else is there really to say? He is currently experiencing some knee issues that may delay his ability to play Opening Day. However, Pujols is famous for his ability to recover quickly and get back on the field so I think it will have a minimal impact on his total plate appearances but shouldn't be a disaster based on recent accounts. Although Albert is on the wrong side of 30 he has destroyed both left and right handed pitching throughout his career and look for him to continue the onslaught in 2013, if healthy. Age may catch up with Pujols eventually but even a watered-down version of Albert is still a force to be reckoned with at the plate. Look for Albert to have a bit of a bounce back season as he will more than likely lead the Angels in HR's and RBI's (with Hamilton a close second) hitting out of the 3-hole. His above average corner def...

Jered Weaver appears unfamiliar with catcher’s practice throw to second base (GIF)

A bit of spring training humor occurred recently involving Los Angeles of Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jared Weaver and his evident — albeit perhaps only temporarily –  unfamiliarity with the common practice of a catcher making a warmup throw of his own to the second base bag  following a pitcher’s warmup tosses. Anyone who has ever played baseball, even all the way back to...

Was locking up Scioscia long-term a bad idea?

When Mike Scioscia was first hired more than a decade ago, he was such an innovator.  During an era of power, Sosh reintroduced the forgotten factors of the game: speed and small ball.  The famous first-to-third took the league by storm, creating an aggressive nature seldom seen at the time.  Outfielders couldn’t take any bloop singles for granted, and even if they didn’t...

The optimist’s perspective on Mike Trout’s contract situation.

It’s well-documented. Mike Trout had one of the greatest individual seasons ever in 2012. Mike Trout is your new favorite Angels player. He is the Phenom of all Phenoms. Naturally, Angels fans young and old want him to stick around, and to be perhaps the first player to enter the hallowed halls of Cooperstown with the Halo’d insignia gracing his plaque.   So when Trout’s...

Click on photo to read more about Pujols’ Debut I have to be honest – I follow baseball as much as the next guy. I can tell you who played right field for the Pittsburgh Pirates at various times of the season last year. However, I cannot tell you how Albert Pujols finished statistically. The guy went to LA and he went out of sight out of mind.. and I don’t even care. The Press...
