If you're favorite team has to play the Angels soon, be sad they didn't get to play them sooner in the season. As the saying goes, the Angels are on fire, and specifically, Mr. Pujols. The Machine is clicking. Angels fans, this is the Big Al you've been waiting for.Last seven days:He's gotten his batting average up to .238. Keep in mind, it was just two weeks ago that it was slightly below .200.As Albert goes, so go the AngelsThe Angels finally got above the .500 mark yesterday, with a win over the Yankees. It was also their eighth straight win. I mentioned on the last update that it was important for Pujols to stay hot if the Angels wanted to win some important games coming up. The Yankees are in town for three, of which the Angels have already won two, and then the Rangers come in for a three game series this weekend. With Oakland losing seven in a row, the Angels have climbed to within 5.5 games of the Rangers, making the weekend series even more important. Yes, I know it's a long season, but momentum at the beginning of the season can carry over. Unless you're the 2011 Pirates. And the Rangers are the only other team that can challenge the Angels for the AL West crown. The Machine is tuning up, and so are the Angels.

Tigers Among American League Teams, Power Hitters Not Living Up to Expectations

The American League, long assumed to be the offensive brother in Major League Baseball, was supposed to come into its own in 2012. A bevy of hitters were filling its ranks, and the National League coughed up two of its best sluggers, Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder, to long-term deals in the American League. But heading into June, with 50 or so games complete, the storylines have...

2012 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols Continue To Rake

Albert Pujols (credits below) San Diego Padres at Chicago Cubs: Both managers argued calls in the top of the seventh, the first time I can remember seeing that. Ultimately, it looked like Jeff Samardzija was helped out of a bases loaded 1 out jam by a poor call at first. That said, up until the seventh, Samardzija was straight dealing. After the controversial play, Samardzija...

What You Need to Know: Wednesday, May 30 by Daniel Rathman

The Tuesday Takeaway Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a home run in the Angels’ 5-1 win over the Yankees last night, giving him seven big flies in his last 14 games. It seems the $254 million man is going to be just fine. But the recent resurgence of Dan Haren is equally important to Mike Scioscia’s team, which will be without Jered Weaver for 3-4 weeks because of a lower-back...

Game Recap 5/29/12: And the eight ball says.... - Angels 5 Yankees 1

I just want to say off the bat that I love so much that the Yankees are getting caught up in the middle of this Angels firestorm. This is the longest winning streak the Angels have had in the past 3 seasons dating back to their 8 win streak in 2009, the last time the Angels made the playoffs. I don't know about you guys, but that gets my pants real tight. You know what else gets...

Prince Fielder's Recent Hot Streak Further Validation That He's One of Game's Best Sluggers

Editor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days. While Albert Pujols struggled early on this season, Prince Fielder has been fantastic since the beginning of the year. That's not to say the Angels made a bad move in inking Pujols to a monster...

It has been an exciting week in fantasy baseball. Albert Pujols and Jose Bautista are hitting again. Tim Lincecum and Roy Halladay are struggling and a bunch of players are somewhere in between. Daily Notes | Matt Adams First Big League Homer

First there was Mark McGwire. He hit 70 home runs and electrified baseball in 1998 in St. Louis and across the country (later things got really messy, but that's neither here nor there). Then there was Albert Pujols. The best player of his generation. He could hit for average, hit for power, and even steal a base if needed. And while we thought Lance Berkman would be next in...
