Reports say that Alex Rodriguez and the MLB have been talking about a plea deal which will end with a 150 game suspension for Alex Rodriguez.  Rodriguez is under scrutiny for his role in the biogenesis scandal. There have been rumors going around that Rodriguez may get a lifetime ban from baseball.  Which would not only end his playing career, but it also wouldn’t allow him ever to coach in the MLB. If the plea deal suspends Rodriguez for 150 games, what was going to be the deal without plea?  One has to think that it was the lifetime ban.  The most notable player to ever get a lifetime ban in baseball is Pete Rose, which is still highly argued to this day.  One could make the argument that if Rodriguez gets the 150 game suspension, it could end his career as a player.  He is already 37 years old and is coming off of hip surgery. He has been said to have been really bad in his rehab assignment too. From a baseball purist standpoint, this is one of the worst things to happen to the game.  Rodriguez was once the prized possession of Major League Baseball.  With all of his talent and all the money he was making, the league really needed him to do well.  But the once loved superstar, has turned into one of the most hated people in all of sports. I wouldn’t put the plea deal past Ryan Braun either.  Braun might be the only person in the MLB who is more hated than Alex Rodriguez.  Braun got an innocent worker fired because he “placed the cup” in the wrong place during his failed drug test.  Many players claim that the only reason Braun got off in the first place is because of his relationship with Bud Selig. Nobody really knows when these suspensions are going to come down on these players but if I had to suggest, I would say do it after the all-star break.  If you wait until after the season, football will be most peoples focus and it wont nearly send the kind of message that it would now.  Now, the only thing on is baseball so that is where all sports fans focus is at.  If the MLB really wants to send a message about cleaning up the game, they will do it after the break.
