Tonight Alex Rodriguez hit his 300th home run in a New York Yankees uniform. This was a key home run in the game because it helped the Yankees stretched their 5-0 lead to 7-0. That eventually led to the Yankees 8-5 victory to reclaim first place in the American League East for the second time in three days.

With the Yankees scoring five runs in the eighth inning yesterday to tie the game (which they eventually lost), and then their offensive outburst tonight, New York seems to have found their bats again. With Alex Rodriguez being the guy adding some offensive production it also shows that the Yankees are getting better in the injury department. That, and Mark Teixeira might be available to play tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow CC Sabathia will take the hill in the third game of this four game series looking to assure that the Yankees will at least split the series, and be one game ahead of the Orioles in the division at the end of the series.

Yankees are October bound: A conspiracy theory

New York Yankees (Photo credit: Keith Allison) Last night vs. the Baltimore Orioles was the most positive game I have seen the New York Yankeesplay in six weeks. Now, try to brush those two particulars aside and you might...

Harper: CC Comes Up Small, Again

From John Harper:The Yankees have had worse nights during this stretch in which their 10-game lead, not to mention their aura of superiority, has disappeared. But this was surely the most ominous night of them all. And not because they got jobbed by first base umpire Jerry Meals. Yes, replays showed that Mark Teixeira was easily safe diving into first base to beat a double-play...

Yankees' Robertson hits a rough patch

David Robertson appeared to have turned a corner in August, posting nine consecutive scoreless outings to provide some much-needed stability in the eighth inning for the New York Yankees. About Last Night, Yankees Beat O's...

After the magic of Thursday night at Camden Yards where the Orioles engineered an incredible win, the two teams met again on Friday.
