Found June 16, 2013 on Mets Merized Online:
David Wright reached base in a career high-tying nine consecutive plate appearances after walking and hitting a run scoring double in his first two trips to the plate yesterday. He also accomplished the feat, August 23-24, 2005. Wright had six singles, a double and two walks during his streak. Since June 5, the Mets third baseman is hitting .441 (15-34) with five runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and six RBI over a span of eight games. His on-base percentage during that span is .500 and he has multi-hit games in five of those eight contests. Wright is five hits shy of 1,500 for his career. He already is the franchise holder for career hits. He would become the 30th active player to collect 1,500 hits, but of the previous 29 players only six have collected 1,500 hits with their current team (Derek Jeter, Todd Helton, Paul Konerko, Jimmy Rollins, David Ortiz and Robinson Cano).

MMO Player Of The Week: Oh Captain, My Captain

David Wright, 3B MMO Player of the Week! Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, the Mets go ahead and prove us wrong. Although it’s a long shot to say that anybody was expecting to win a series against the best team in baseball (and the way this team was playing, against the Cubs), hopes were not high coming into the week. The streaky defense and simply atrocious offense...

Lack Of Wright’s All Star Game Support Is Not On The Fans, It’s On The Mets…

David Wright spoke out about the overzealous campaign by the Mets to get him voted to the All Star Game. “It’s nice when the organization is trying so hard to do something for one of their players and I can’t thank them enough for that,” Wright said. “But at the same time, I’ve asked them to kind of back it down a little bit, especially with the stuff between innings...

Brooklyn Cyclones ‘ Matt Oberste Interview

Matt Oberste grew up in Oklahoma as a lone ranger. As the majority of the population flocked to the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, he sought solace with another team: The New York Mets. His favorite player? David Wright, who he modeled himself after growing up. Oberste was selected by the Mets in the seventh-round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft and quickly signed with the...

Fred Wilpon Believes In Sandy Alderson

Fred Wilpon spoke with Steven Marcus of Newsday on Monday and said he is confident in Sandy Alderson’s plan for the Mets. The Mets owner added that things will improve now that the big unproductive contracts are coming off the books. “We’re coming to the end of the time when we have had an overhang of players who got hurt or didn’t play well, and I think that Sandy Alderson...

Last Night, Wheeler Thanked Fans For Support

The Day I’ll Never Forget, April 1st, 2013: My First Mets Game With My Dad

Some of my greatest memories with my father have revolved around sports. High-fiving eachother after witnessing an Islanders overtime win at the Nassau Coliseum. Sitting on the LIRR on our way to the Giants ticker-tape parade while my dad called me in sick to school; the attendance secretary not buying it for a minute. Nearly getting our heads taken off by a Skip Schumaker foul ball...

Capt Kirk wins it on a walk off

Been really tough to watch the Mets this year as all us die hards know.  Even for me I just cant sit night after night watching the Mets score one or 2 runs with 5 hits.  ZZZZZ  .  My partners in crime text me and ask are you watching this mess and I usually tell them I am busy with other things.  A 2 year old will do that to you.   Of course yesterday being fathers day...

When The Block In Your Head Is XXL

After 53 games of the 2013 baseball season, I think we have our enduring image. A defining moment. What it defines, I'm not sure. But it's going to wind up summing up this season perfectly: That's Lucas Duda. In the seventh inning of a baseball game on Saturday with his team down by one run. Bunting. Willingly. Now mind you ... not only does Duda lead the Mets...

Twenty To Go ...

Think Anthony Young is getting nervous? Excited? Or is he doing what we all should be doing ... anything except watching the New York Mets play baseball? Here's my recap of Friday's game: I'm on the bus, and Shaun Marcum gives up five runs. So when I got home, I went to sleep. When I woke up, Marcum was 0-8. The End. Speaking of ... It sure is...
