So what's the going rate for two to three months of Zack Grienke followed by a series of frantic attempts to resign him for less than 20 million dollars a year? As we found out just a moment ago, three pretty solid prospects. The Angels sent RHP's Ariel Pena and John Hellweg and shortstop Jean Segura to the Brewers for Grienke's services in a move that's be lauded for its brilliance and criticized for its stupidity both at the same time by both sides. So what's the real value here? I'll let you decide that, but first you deserve the facts.
Who is Jean Segura? Jean Segura is a 22 year old shortstop that's been a key component in many Top 50 prospect lists for the past two seasons. Segura came up in the Angels system as a second basemen, but do to his quick twitch reflexes, lower body strength and rocket for an arm he was shifted across the diamond to shortstop. This is a rarity, normally it's the other way around, but so far the results h...

Who would have thought a rookie who hit just .220 in 40 games during late 2011 would emerge one season later as a legitimate MVP candidate? How about a 20-year old that didn't even start the season in the majors? Well, that's just what Mike Trout has done. Through 78 games entering play Saturday, Trout is leading the American League in batting average (.354), runs scored...
The Milwaukee Brewers finally pulled the trigger on the trade that everyone was expecting. The organization traded starter Zack Greinke to the Los Angeles Angels for a three-prospect package headlined by middle infielder Jean Segura.
Segura, 22, was recently promoted to the majors for the first time in his pro career and was one of the Angels’ top prospects – if not their best...

Zack Greinke is heading to Los Angeles. The Angels have reportedly traded for the Brewers right-hander, according to multiple reports, in exchange for a package of prospects including shortstop Jean Segura. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin had said previously that his ace pitcher was definitely going to be traded before the July 31 deadline, and now he's made good on that...
ANAHEIM, CA – The Angels today acquired RHP Zack Greinke (pronounced ‘GRANKY’) from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for INF Jean Segura, RHP Ariel Pena and RHP Johnny Hellweg. Today’s announcement was made by General Manager Jerry Dipoto. Greinke, 28, went 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA (123 IP – 47 ER) in 21 starts this season with Milwaukee. He spent the 2011 campaign...
101 games into the season and the Angels now find themselves in a somewhat precarious situation. No longer in second place in the AL West and in the less than secure second wild card position, the Angels are on the precipice of disaster. I'm not trying to be melodramatic but if this team doesn't start stringing some wins together they could be on the outside looking in.Angels...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Matt Moore outpitched C.J. Wilson, scattering four hits over 6 1-3 innings, and Ben Zobrist homered to lead the Tampa Bay Rays past the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 Saturday night.
Moore (7-7) struck out six to increase his season total to 112, second-most among rookies behind Texas' Yu Darvish. The 23-year-old lefty pitched a career-high eight innings in his...
The Los Angeles Angels just won't stop.
First, they signed free-agent first baseman Albert Pujols and left-hander C.J. Wilson during the offseason.
Now they have snagged the biggest prize on this year's trade market, right-hander Zack Greinke.
The Angels acquired Greinke from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday for shortstop Jean Segura and Double A right-handers Johnny Hellweg...
Torii Hunter left the Notre Dame campus surprised by what he’d seen. IrishEyes.com caught up with Hunter for his thoughts about his visit and more.
