During spring training, Andrew Miller was contending for a starting spot. After spending the 2011 season bouncing between Boston and Pawtucket's bullpen, the southpaw was looking to reclaim a spot in the rotation. It was similar to when he pitched in the Marlins' rotation for three years. Amid the competition, Miller was sidelined with a hamstring injury. Before long, his starting aspirations disappeared and the 27-year-old landed back in Triple-A, where he sharpened his skills. Now, a month and a half since his promotion to the Red Sox, Miller is bolstering the Red Sox bullpen. Through 14 appearances, the lefty...

BOSTON -- Carl Crawford knows he has been a non factor for the Red Sox so far this season. But the All-Star left fielder is determined to change that reality. Crawford took about 50 swings during batting practice on Tuesday, impressing with his bat speed and solid stroke. The 30-year-old blasted a few pitches off the Green Monster in left field and even sent one into the deepest...
Things were problematic enough for the Boston Red Sox with injuries this season, and now they may have to worry about Dustin Pedroia again. The second baseman re-injured his right thumb Tuesday for the second time in three weeks and was taken out of the game after his at-bat in the seventh inning. Pedroia was not available to talk with the media after Boston's 7-5 win over...
With all the Red Sox talk about who's not on the field -- namely, the team's entire projected starting outfield -- it's gone a little bit unnoticed that the guys who are filling out the lineup card on a daily basis are doing pretty darn well for themselves. Coming in to Tuesday's series opener at Fenway hosting the Miami Marlins, the offense is one thing that Sox...
David Ortiz homered and Ryan Kalish had a tiebreaking RBI single to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 7-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night.
Kalish, recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket before the game also scored on Daniel Nanva's squeeze bunt to cap Boston's three-run seventh inning that gave the Red Sox a 6-3 lead.
Matt Albers (2-0) pitched one inning to pick up the...
Dustin Pedroia came out of Tuesday night's game with the Marlins after reaggravating his thumb injury. It appears that for one night at least, the Red Sox second baseman will rest that thumb. Pedroia isn't in the Boston starting lineup on Wednesday night as the Red Sox take on the Marlins at Fenway Park in what's expected to be a sultry June night in Boston. Pedroia,...
BOSTON -- By electing to battle through the pain, Dustin Pedroia gambled. The second baseman took a chance on playing through a torn adductor muscle in his right thumb, hoping he wouldn't re-aggravate the injury –– or worsen it –– after missing six games. That decision may possibly haunt him. During the seventh inning of Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins, Pedroia...
The Boston Red Sox selected third baseman Xavier Turner in the 34th round out of Sandusky High School in Ohio. We sat down with him for a draft day Q&A session to get his thoughts on being drafted by the Red Sox, to get an idea on his strengths and weaknesses, who he would compare himself to at the big league level, and much more.
Lil Wayne takes a break from shooting the “Lover” music video with PJ Morton to chop it up with a few of the Boston Red Sox players. In the video above, Weezy talks about how he met some of the Red Sox players at their clubhouse on June 13th after their game against Miami Marlins at Marlins Park. Tune also goes to show how much of a fan he is by showing a tattoo...
After taking two of three from the Marlins last week in Miami, the Red Sox look for another series win as the Marlins travel north for three at Fenway starting on Tuesday.

It doesn't sound like there will be any sort of long, drawn-out negotiation process for the Red Sox to sign their first-round draft pick. Baseball America reports that the Sox have come to terms with first-round pick Deven Marrero, a slick-fielding shortstop out of Arizona State. According to Baseball America, the deal comes with a $2.05 million bonus for Marrero, who Boston...
It’s happening again. As we near the halfway point in the 2012 season, the Red Sox have picked up right where they left off last September. Injuries have certainly played a part, but at the moment Boston is a mediocre team at best as it hovers around a .500 record. In addition to a poor performance on the field, Buster Olney described the Red Sox clubhouse as a “toxic” environment...

8 a.m. ET: The Red Sox (34-33) have returned to their winning ways above .500. They'll look to maintain that momentum when Felix Doubront takes the mound against the Marlins (33-34) just one week after beating them. Last time around, Doubront dazzled, giving up two runs over seven innings. This time, Doubront owns a 7-3 record with a 4.17 ERA entering the game. The lefty will...
