Texas All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus left in the ninth inning of Sunday's Sunday 7-6 loss at Kansas City because of pain in his right shoulder. Andrus, who was 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs, is hitting .296. He injured his shoulder on a slide. ''He said he had some soreness in his right shoulder,'' Rangers manager Ron Washington said. ''He's day to day. He'll probably be in there tomorrow.'' Andrus was replaced by Alberto Gonzalez, who made a costly fielding error in the 10th that led to the Royals scoring the winning run. ''It didn't really bother me too much,'' Andrus said of the shoulder. ''I noticed that every time I threw the ball, it was slowing down. In the (on-deck) circle, that's when I realized it was hurting. It's not bad. I took myself out more to prevent getting hurt worse.''

Roy Oswalt needs a timeout

Roy Oswalt has a 5.82 ERA. Roy Oswalt doesn't like his role. Roy Oswalt needs to take a number and get in line. The Texas Rangers have more pressing concerns than his ego. The Rangers have lost two straight games, during which starters Derek Holland and Yu Darvish turned in alarming clunkers. With two-fifths of the Opening Day rotation lost to season-ending surgeries -- Colby...

Oswalt is still a Ranger -- and still a reliever

Roy Oswalt remains part of the Texas Rangers' pitching staff. On Monday, a day after he said was through after 30 pitches in two perfect innings, the club said its position on Oswalt is the same. The team brass is aware he has a very strong desire to be a starter, even if that is somewhere other than Texas, but it has no plans right now to change his role. Rangers officials...

Feldman wins 6th straight, Rangers beat Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Josh Hamilton drove in two runs, Scott Feldman won his sixth straight decision and the Texas Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Saturday night. Feldman (6-6) worked into the eighth inning and became the first pitcher in 29 years to win six consecutive decisions after starting the season 0-6. Doyle Alexander did it in 1983 with the New York Yankees...

Royals 7, Rangers 6(10)

Errors by Alberto Gonzalez and Mike Olt in a three-pitch span allowed the tiebreaking run to score in the 10th inning, giving the Kansas City Royals a 7-6 victory over the slumping Texas Rangers on Sunday. With the score 6-6, Michael Kirkman (0-2) walked Billy Butler leading off the 10th. Gonzalez, who entered in the ninth when Elvis Andrus left because of a sore shoulder, booted...

Holland struggles, poor defense costly in 10th

Derek Holland gave up two runs right away in the 1st inning, and I tried not to panic.  Holland believes he’s pitching well, and I waited for him to show me that. I’m still waiting. OK, so Dutch did have a few good innings.  But they were few and far between.  Between innings when he was giving up runs.  And home runs.  It was just not Derek’s day.  And the interview...

Sox Offense Beats Up on Darvish in Win!

The Red Sox just came off a very disappointing series against the Twins and were set to face the red hot Rangers and their new phenom pitcher Yu Darvish.  The Sox had Aaron Cook on the mound who in his last few outings has started well, but ended the games by giving up homeruns and often.  So, would the Sox even have a chance?  They would and would end up winning with ease. Cook...

Ian Desmond Has Natitude

Ian Desmond has become a legitimate threat in the lineup. This may come as a big surprise to fans of sabermetrics, as Desmond’s swing-happy approach, led to him being one of the worst regulars in baseball. Last season, Desmond finished ahead of only Yuniesky Betancourt and Alex Gonzalez in WAR at the shortstop position. This year, he trails Elvis Andrus 3.8 to 3.7. If not for a...
