Andy Pettitte met his wife, Laura, in high school. Together, they have four children: Joshua Blake (1994), Jared (1998), Lexy Grace (2001), and Luke Jackson (2005).  When Andy retired after the 2010 season, the reason he gave for hanging up his cleats was "to spend more time with my family." As a 38 year old, five time world series champion it seemed like a valid reason to most.   But not to me, I call ******** on the whole situation.  After going 11-3 and earning over 11 million dollars, he was all set for another 8-10 million dollar payday in 2011.

Andy Pettitte is a devout Christian and a confessed PED user, and as far as I know he is a good man. But to retire because you have a family is he stupidest **** I have ever heard in my life.  A baseball player gets to play for a short period of time and has the REST of his life to hang out with his family.  Not only that, a baseball player only works from February to October at MOST!   Which means, he has 4 solid months to do NOTHING but work out and hang out with your family.  Such nonsense.

Fast forward to the present.  Andy signed a 2.5 million dollar year deal with the Yankees yesterday and the reason why is..  HE REALIZED THAT A YEAR OF DOING NOTHING BUY HANGING OUT WITH HIS WIFE IS MUCH WORSE THAT MAKING MILLIONS WHILE HANGING OUT WITH THE YANKEES!!  What a moron.

From the Yankees perspective, the cash commitment is a drop in a buck for the evil empire.  They have gambled 20 times that on guys that couldn't shine Pettites shoes in the past.  We think he crushes it this year, because if he doesn't - it means he has to go back to hanging out with his wife.

One last comment, ESPN gave full reporting credit to Buster "Bologna" Olney for the signing, but Jack Curry from YES was actually the one to break the story - so a Twitter war broke out yesterday between the two. Bare in mind, Curry only broke the story by a mere 6 minutes.   Come on young world give Buster a break, Curry works for the Yankees network still only out typed Buster by a short period of time. Buster is still the best out there.
