The on-again, off-again trade of Scott Kazmir to the Angels is on-again. Several outlets are reporting that the swap has been agreed upon and the Rays will receive the aforementioned minor leaguers Alexander Torres and Matthew Sweeney, as well as another player to be named.
Updating my previous post, Kazmir was not claimed at all during the waiver process and therefore was allowed to be traded to any team. Many clubs were afraid of claiming the Rays' pitcher and then having to pay him. Kazmir is in the first year of a three-year, $28.5 million contract.
