The Los Angeles Angels have placed right-hander LaTroy Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list because of a broken pinkie finger on his right hand.
Hawkins was injured on Sunday while picking up his first save of the season. He broke his finger while catching a ball off the bat of Toronto's Omar Vizquel that resulted in a game-ending double play. Hawkins had a 1.08 ERA in 8 1-3 innings pitched, one of the few stable contributors in a struggling Angels bullpen.
Scott Downs was also injured on Sunday, bruising his left knee while dodging a line drive. He is day to day.
The Angels purchased the contract of right-hander David Pauley from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Hawkins' place in the bullpen. Pauley had a 2.29 ERA in 19 2-3 innings.

The Angels finally had enough yesterday and decided to insert Mark Trumbo in at first base in place of the slumping Albert Pujols. I’m sure it’s only temporary. The general idea is to give the world-class slugger a day or two away from it all to clear his head. Luckily for the Angels, they have plenty of bats to insert in his place while he figures things out.
Albert Pujols has hit his first regular-season home run since joining the Los Angeles Angels, ending the longest drought of his 12-year career after 33 games and 139 at-bats.
Pujols' two-run shot into the left-field bullpen Sunday came in the fifth inning against Toronto's Drew Hutchison.
Pujols was playing his 28th game for the Angels since leaving St. Louis and signing...
Booed and benched in the previous two games, first baseman Albert Pujols finally broke
out with his first home run as an Angel on Sunday. Pujols was booed as he went hitless in Friday's shutout by the Blue Jays. Angels fans
were frustrated with the sub-.200, 0-homer start by their $246 million man. After the
game, Pujols said he deserved it but promised there would be...

OK, I swear, I never intended for these to be bi-weekly, but well, here we are. Let's just get right to the rankings before I procrastinate more and this post ends up being monthly.
As always, the rankings are based on a player's overall season performance with a weight on recent performance.

Jered Weaver's no-hit streak ended at 11 2-3 innings when Minnesota's Erik Komatsu singled to center with no outs in the third inning Monday night.
Weaver threw the first no-hitter of his career last Wednesday against the Twins in Los Angeles. In his start before the no-hitter, he retired his last two batters.

The Albert Pujols sideshow finally ended on May 6, 2012, in the 111th AB of what has so far been a season of well-paid misery for the former King of St Louis. It ended with that long-awaited first official home run (although he hit seven in Spring Training) as an Angel; a wait that was so excruciatingly long and drawn-out, it reminded me of the similarly long...
Jered Weaver allowed three hits over six innings in his first start since no-hitting the Twins last week to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 8-3 victory over Minnesota on Monday night.
Weaver (5-0) gave up one run with two walks and two strikeouts and Alberto Callaspo had a homer and three RBIs for the Angels, who have won six of eight as they try to climb out of the cellar in...

Jered Weaver no-hit the Minnesota Twins last Wednesday night, and now he is getting his wish. As long time David Letterman fan, Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels, will announce the famous Top Ten List to America tonight on Letterman’s Late Night show.
