Alfredo Silverio, who had a fantastic 2011 season, was selected by the Miami Marlins in Thursday's Rule 5 Draft.
It was kind of surprising seeing as Silverio missed the entire 2012 season due to a nasty car accident that ultimately led to Tommy John surgery for the toolsy outfielder.
Silverio, 25, was removed from the 40-man roster before re-signing to a minor-league...
With the Winter Meetings ready to kick in to high gear, Scott Kazmir couldn’t ask for a better time to have the best start since he began the Winter League part of his comeback.
There are some considerable talks going on according to Buster Olney, who tweeted that interest is high since Friday’s development.
“Teams have already shown interest in Scott Kazmir, and that...
NASHVILLE Jerry Dipoto will never say never, because an opportunity might arise or Angels owner Arte Moreno might hand him the equivalent of a blank check to pursue a player like he did with Albert Pujols last winter.
But based on the general manager's actions over the past 10 days and his comments as he left the winter meetings Thursday, it is clear that pitcher Zack Greinke...
Zack Greinke is a lucky, lucky man.
It’s unclear exactly where he’ll be pitching in 2013, but it will probably be Arlington or Los Angeles, and the Dodgers, Angels and Rangers appear to be the last three teams vying for his services. However, some of the numbers being bandied about have made there way around the Internet, and they are mind blowing.
The most cited report has Greinke...

NASHVILLE Baseballs winter meetings ended on Thursday morning and Zack Greinke still wasnt a Dodger.
But he wasnt a Texas Ranger, either.
General Manager Ned Colletti said he remained uncertain of how the Dodgers talks with Greinke would progress or when there could be a resolution.
I have no idea, Colletti said.
The Dodgers are waiting on Greinke, but wont be paralyzed by him...
The final day of the Winter Meetings are upon us and with that comes this VERY IMPORTANT update on the Angels...
...the Angels have (drum roll, please) not done a damn thing.
Yep, nothing. Not one move. They haven't signed Greinke or any other starting pitcher. They haven't even brought in a semi-anonymous middle reliever to fill out the bullpen. They...
It appears the Marlins aren’t the only team wary of issuing no-trade clauses this offseason.
The Los Angeles Times reports the Dodgers could be reluctant to offer that type of protection to free agents this offseason. It’s a philosophy that team president Stan Kasten embraced since his days with the Braves and Nationals.
But that position could prevent the Dodgers from luring...

Shane Victorino is the latest free agent to sign with the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox ranked at the bottom of the AL East last season and are out to make sure that does not happen again in 2013.
Victorino will join Mike Napoli who also signed a three year deal worth $39 million days ago.
The Red Sox will use Victorino in right field next season. He hit .255/.321/.383 with 11 home...
