Angels shortstop Erick Aybar has left Los Angeles' game against Oakland in the third inning with a bruised left heel. Aybar, a Gold Glove winner in 2011, got hurt while stretching to reach first base on an infield single Tuesday night in the team's home opener. Aybar jammed his left foot into the base while running out his leadoff single. He briefly stayed in the game before calling out the training staff and jogging off the field. Brendan Harris came on as a pinch-runner for Aybar, who singled in each of his two at-bats. Los Angeles trailed the Athletics 4-0.

Josh Hamilton – Keeper or Bust?

Is Josh Hamilton a keeper? He is a bust? Or is it too late to proclaim? If you have been following my fantasy baseball woes, I traded Ryan Braun for Steven Strasburg and Josh Hamilton before the season started. Sure, Braun was named the 2011 National League Most Valuable player. Strasburg was named the Opening Day starter and Josh Hamilton can hit homeruns in his sleep. Strasburg...

Learning to love Josh Hamilton

When the Angels signed Josh Hamilton I knew it was going to be tough. Tough on Hamilton to meet expectations. Tough on the front office to prove signing Josh was a smart decision. Tough on the fans to embrace a former enemy. Tough on me just to figure out how to deal with Hamilton's presence and all that comes with it. As a general rule, I try and keep my own personal opinion...

Are the Angels in trouble?

Undoubtedly by now, you’ve heard that Jered Weaver has been diagnosed with a broken non-throwing elbow.  Weaver is the Angels ace and has placed Top Three in the Cy Young race for the past two seasons and Top Five for the past three seasons.  Any team would be hurt by the loss of such a pitcher.  Arguably, many teams could be expected to fall apart.  Seeing as the Angels are...

Yesterday, we talked about the red flags created by Jered Weaver‘s performances over the last few months. Today brings news that Jered Weaver will be placed on the disabled list. For the Angels, this will likely be construed as a big blow. It is probably not that big of a deal in the long run. As we noted yesterday, there are reasons to think that current Jered Weaver is likely...

How the Angels can survive without Jered Weaver

When does four weeks feel like four years? When Jered Weaver is missing four weeks, at least, of action for the Angels. Sure, the Halo ace may not have been on top of his game in his first two starts of the 2013 season, but losing him to a broken left elbow for over a month is a big blow to the Angels' chances of getting out of the gates quickly for the first time in a long time...
