Buchholz Down AgainAccording to multiple reports, Clay Buchholz will not make his scheduled rehab start on Sunday due to continued injury problems. Frankly, we've lost track of how many rehab milestones Buchholz has skipped. Also, this thing started as a stiff neck and is now characterized as "inflammation of the bursa sac in his right shoulder." This situation calls into question two things: 1.) the durability of the right-hander and 2.) the continued ineptitude of the Red Sox medical staff. Not only won't he make his scheduled minor league start, but now it's revealed that he will need at least two additional workouts in the bullpen and a simulated game before he even begins a rehab assignment in the minor leagues. What? Essentially, this team has been without its best starter since June 8th—due a relatively minor injury. What the heck is going on? All we can say is, thank goodness for John Lackey and Felix Doubront! How bizarre is that?
