As the Arizona Diamondbacks are ready to play their first Spring Training game tomorrow against the San Francisco Giants, let's take my projected look at the opening day roster as it pertains to the infield. I know this is as about as exciting as the Lindsay Lohan jewelery debacle, so stay with me!
1B: Juan Miranda, Brandon Allen, Russell Branyon
I believe Branyon will play well enough to earn a spot. My best guess is he will end up taking a spot from one of the extra outfielders. That way if one is needed, Allen can catch a spot out there.
2B: Kelly Johnson
Johnson will be the guy. Would not be surprised to see utilityman Geoff Blum see some time at second to spell Johnson at times. Tony Abreu could be the odd man out.
SS: Stephen Drew
Should there be anyone else?
3B: Melvin Mora
No one should take his spot from him.
