Jake Arrieta and the “Case of the Empty Bottle of Baltimore Magic Dust”

A sharp eye will reveal a possible sleeper heading into the 2013 MLB Season: Baltimore’s Jake Arrieta. Looking at his peripherals, (8.0 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 1.1 HR/9, 15% HR/FB, .330 BABIP, and 58% strand rate) it’s easy to cast off Arrieta as another Ricky Nolasco. If someone wanted to make that argument, it would be tough to disagree since Arrieta has failed to reach his xFIP or...

According to Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore...

Every baseball fan, last year, watched the Baltimore Orioles be solely beaten by Raul Ibanez in the 2012 playoffs. The Orioles claimed a wildcard spot in the 2012 playoffs and knocked off the power packed Texas Rangers, stunning most of America. However, it is not 2012 anymore. The Bluejays now have a star-studded line-up, the Rays brought in new young talent, and the Orioles didn...

Roster Watch Yamaico Navarro

I regret to inform you this will probably be the last meaningful post I make about Yamaico Navarro. Honestly though, I’m not sure I’ve ever made a meaningful post about Yamacio Navarro. I guess the most I ever really wrote about him was the recap of the stupid trade that brought him to the Pirates.…
