A's acquire Kottaras from Brewers

The Oakland Athletics have obtained catcher George Kottaras from the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade for minor league reliever Fautino De Los Santos. The deal was announced Sunday, shortly before the Athletics faced the Orioles in the finale of a three-game series. The 29-year-old Kottaras will join the A's in Oakland on Monday. Kottaras hit .209 with three homers and 12 RBIs...

Brewers trade ace pitcher Greinke to Angels

MILWAUKEE After just a day of openly shopping the trade deadline's most coveted prize, the Milwaukee Brewers have sent ace pitcher Zack Greinke to the Angels for shortstop prospect Jean Segura, and right-handed pitching prospects Ariel Pena and John Hellweg. It was a bold move many saw coming after the Brewers dropped seven straight games and fell to 14 games back in the NL...

Zack Greinke Cements Angels as Serious AL Contender, But Yankees and Rangers Offer Competition (Video)

Zack Greinke's a member of the Angels now, but that doesn't mean that Los Angeles is going to run away with the pennant. Right? NESN Nation's Dan Duquette reached out to our Twitter followers to see if the Greinke trade swings the American League playoff race or if there are still challengers out there to match up with L.A. See what they had to say in the video above...

Norichika Aoki gets infield single after ground ball hits rosin bag (Video)

Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Norichika Aoki got an infield single on what should have been a double play ball during Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals after his ground ball up the middle hit a rosin bag in the back of the pitcher's mound. Your browser does not support iframes. It happened in the bottom of the third inning with one out and a runner...

Brewers working hard to trade Kottaras

MILWAUKEE With Jonathan Lucroy returning to the Brewers' lineup and young catcher Martin Maldonado in the middle of a breakout season in Lucroy's stead, Milwaukee was left with three capable catchers on its major league roster -- a logjam the team didn't have room for. So on Thursday, the Brewers announced that backup catcher George Kottaras the longest-tenured catcher...

Zack Greinke’s in His New Home

The trade deadline rush has not disappointed so far, and the latest big news is that Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin delivered on his promise to move Zack Greinke. Greinke is now an Angel. Marc Hulet already covered the prospects that the Angels sent to Milwaukee. Was it a “good” trade? Well, the Brewers are not going anywhere, and Greinke is going to be a free agent who...

Brewers' System Gets Boost in Greinke Deal

It always stings when you trade away a high caliber pitcher like Zack Greinke. The blow is lessened, however, when you net the type of prospects Milwaukee did in exchange for Greinke. While it's difficult to say who came away the winner of this near deadline trade, it's safe to say that the Angels did pay a hefty price for Greinke's services.

Brewers seek redemption against lowly Astros

There are still two months left in the season, but the Milwaukee Brewers aren't giving any indication that they're going to make a move up the standings. The Houston Astros' recent bevy of moves show they're certainly looking toward 2013. Milwaukee will try to avoid a 10th loss in 11 games Monday night at Miller Park while the major league-worst Astros look to win...

Nineteen months of Greinke worth the price

MILWAUKEE A framed picture hangs at the end of a long back hallway in the Milwaukee Brewers press box. It's a picture of ace pitcher Zack Greinke, and on the surface, it seems very much like the other posed photographs in this hallway. It's a typical picture of Greinke, if there is such a thing -- the pitcher deeply, yet blankly, glaring at the camera. But, on a deeper...

Three umps in arguments at same time

A play in the sixth inning of the Milwaukee Brewers' game against the Washington Nationals on Sunday resulted in three of the four umpires involved in separate arguments at the same time. The Brewers led, 3-2, and had the bases loaded with one out when Norichika Aoki laid down a squeeze bunt that was fielded by Washington starter Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez made a quick, off-target...

Nats' Morse hits tying HR, go-ahead double in 11th

Michael Morse hit a tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning, then delivered a two-run double in the 11th that sent the Washington Nationals over the Milwaukee Brewers 11-10 on Sunday. Bryce Harper drew a leadoff walk from Jose Veras (3-4) in the 11th and Ryan Zimmerman singled. One out later, Morse doubled down the left-field line for an 11-9 lead. Morse's homer with one out...

Could Brewers’ Zack Greinke Shine In Hollywood?

Last week, reports started swirling around the interwebs that the Angels had entered the race for Zack Greinke. It would be an ideal fit for the Angels as Dan Haren has been hurt, and Ervin Santana has been nothing short of inconsistent. Just to tease Angels fans, here is their possible rotation if they acquire Greinke: Jered Weaver Zack Greinke CJ Wilson Dan Haren - Assuming...

Angels Acquire Zack Greinke for Prospects

ANAHEIM, CA – The Angels today acquired RHP Zack Greinke (pronounced ‘GRANKY’) from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for INF Jean Segura, RHP Ariel Pena and RHP Johnny Hellweg.  Today’s announcement was made by General Manager Jerry Dipoto.
