Should Snider And Thames Be Competing?

Travis Snider has been locked in a battle with Eric Thames for the final roster spot in the Jays’ outfield, but I don’t think this makes any sense. Not because I think Snider should be handed a job, or that Thames is terrible or anything. No, the reason is that I’m not sure why Ben Francisco has a guaranteed job with Toronto. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know that Snider hasn’t...

2012 burning question: Toronto Blue Jays

From my season preview of the Blue Jays earlier this morning... Burning QuestionEveryone knows about the talent that Colby Rasmus possesses, but he was pretty awful after coming over from the Cardinals last July. Is this going to be the year where he finally turns into a superstar? Ramsus's first two years with the Cardinals were prtty damn good. He OPSed .714 as a 22 year...

MLB 2012 Preview: The Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have always been a bridesmaid in the AL East. Not the ugly one, that falls to the Orioles,  but not the one who lost fifty pounds but kept her **** like the Rays either. They enter nearly every season as a good to very good team that doesn’t have a realistic shot at the playoffs because they play in the toughest division in baseball. Uncle Bud has fixed all...

2012 season preview: Toronto Blue Jays

Led by MVP candidate Jose Bautista, the Toronto Blue Jays bashed their way to an 81-81 record, their third season in the last four years at or above .500. All those .500 seasons have gotten them...a permanent spot in fourth place in the highly competitive AL East. But the Blue Jays fine tuned their team this offseason, and look to be at least in contention for one of the AL wild...

Jays' Romero leaves with tight groin in win

Ricky Romero pitched four hitless innings before leaving with a tight left groin, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa bay Rays 5-0 Friday. Jeff Niemann, in the three-way scramble for one of the last two spots in Tampa Bay's rotation, gave up four runs in 3 1-3 innings. Niemann had allowed just two hits and no runs over five innings in two previous starts, but he gave up...

2012 Top 20 Prospects – Toronto Blue Jays

It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). We head north to the Blue Jays. For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to my ranking. I’ve also listed the rankings...

SLEEPING GIANTS WITH TALENT AND MONEY, BLUE JAYS QUIETLY BECOMING THREAT IN EAST

DUNEDIN, Fla.-Imagine what the Rays would look like with the finances to keep all of their best players. Now stop imagining. Because it is happening. Unfortunately for the Rays, it is not in Tampa Bay. Heck, it is not even in this country. The Blue Jays, methodically, have assembled a talent base at both the major and minor league levels that has them poised to turn the AL East...
