The Houston Astros have placed outfielder Carlos Lee on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, the team announced Sunday. To take Lee's roster spot, the Astros have recalled infielder Brett Wallace from Class AAA Oklahoma City. Lee will be facing the second trip to the disabled list in 14 seasons. He is in his sixth season with the Astros, hitting .297 with four home runs and 23 RBIs in 49 games. He has a career average of .287 with 353 homers and 1309 RBIs. Wallace was hitting .265 in the minors with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs in 50 games. He played 115 games last season with Houston, hitting .259 with five homers and 29 RBIs.
