The Los Angeles Angels returned home and recorded a much-needed win after a rough road trip. Now, they hope to get Dan Haren back on track. Haren will try to help the Angels win consecutive games for the first time this season Tuesday night against the Oakland Athletics. After going 2-4 at Minnesota and New York, Los Angeles (4-6) avoided a third consecutive home loss with a 6-0 win over Oakland on Monday. Kendrys Morales had three hits, including a three-run shot for his first homer since breaking his ankle celebrating a game-ending grand slam May 29, 2010. "It had been a long time,'' said Morales, who had four RBIs after going 0 for 14 in his previous four games. "I never lost faith. I knew I could do it. I just need to keep working and do it better.'' While Los Angeles scored at least five runs for the third straight game, Jered Weaver threw 6 2-3 solid innings and three relievers preserved the shutout to provide a boost for a staff that had a 5.26 ...

Los Angeles Angels Prospect Report (4/17 Games)

By Brian Waller, AngelsWin.com Columnist Salt Lake Bees (8-4) The Bees continued their winning ways Tuesday night as they beat the 51’s 3-2 in front of 3,091 at Cashman Field. Brad Mills pitched 7.0 strong innings allowing only one earned run off four hits while walking three and striking out three. His 2012 ERA is a sparkling 1.38. I personally wouldn’t mind seeing him...

Angels' Morales mired in 1-for-23 slump

It turns out the toughest part of Kendrys Morales' comeback might still be ahead of him. After missing nearly two years while recovering from a fractured left ankle, Morales returned to the Angels' lineup to start the 2012 season. After a successful run in Cactus League play, Morales had five hits in his first seven at-bats this season including a four-hit game against the...

What should Erick Aybar get in a contract extension?

If recent reports are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before the Angels lock up Erick Aybar to a lucrative contract extension.  Nothing is official yet, but reports are circling around a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of five years and $50 million for Aybar.  That seems to be what Aybar is asking for, anyway.  But is that what he should get? We could debate...

Game Recap 4/16/12 -- Happy Happy Joy Joy - Angels 6 Athletics 0

Well who would have guessed it, the Angels actually have a middle of the order, what a surprise. The day off did Kendrys wonders apparently, 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI's makes you wonder if he's finally coming back around. I know one game is too soon to throw around claims that Kendrys is finally back to true Kendrys form again, but if he can keep raking throughout this home...

Jackie Robinson Day

By Brian Waller, AngelsWin.com Columnist On this day in 1947, Jackie Robinson broke the "color barrier" in Major League Baseball as he made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Baseball may be referred to as simply a game but the fact of the matter is that there are few things as closely tied to American culture and society as baseball. The sport is synonymous with...

Game Recap 4/17/12 -- Wow.....just...wow - Athletics 5 Angels 3

You know... I'm glad the game went the way it did in the 8th because maybe now Scioscia will stop putting so much undeserved trust into Kevin Jepsen. Jesus Christ the guy is garbage, he's always been bad and people think just because he put up a tolerable year in '10 that he's going to somehow find the potential that he doesn't have. Maybe Dipoto will be able...

MLB Update: Angels/Yankees No Match For Red Sox/Yankees; Ratings Flat For FOX Season Debut

Though it was a high-profile matchup in its own right, Sunday’s matchup between the Angels and Yankees was no match for Red Sox/Yankees a year earlier. The Angels/Yankees ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ game drew 2.830 million viewers on ESPN Sunday night, down 40% from Red Sox/Yankees on the second weekend of the season last year (4.697M), but up 32% from Cardinals/Brewers in 2010...

Angels 6, Athletics 0

Kendrys Morales hit his first homer in nearly two years and drove in four runs, and Jered Weaver recorded his 1,000th career strikeout while pitching five-hit ball into the seventh inning of the Los Angeles Angels' 6-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Monday night. Morales followed his three-run homer in the first inning with an eighth-inning double to score Albert Pujols...

Minor League Monday - Gone Fishin'

Minor League Top 10 1. Mike Trout - OF, Triple-A Salt Lake City (LAA) - .435/.491/.652, 1 HR, 3 3B - Mike Trout not only does "Blue Steel" really well, but he has started out the season with a 10-game hit streak, is 4-for-5 in stolen bases, and doesn't belong in the minor leagues anymore. I don't want to put him on this list ever again. Yet for some reason, Vernon...

Was Chris Iannetta’s addition to the Angels smarter than Pujols’ addition

Much has been said about Albert Pujols‘ addition to the Angels, and everybody knows that it was a risky move for Angels owner, Arte Moreno. Because Pujols will eventually decline, if it hasn't started yet, and having a 40-year old player earning more than $20 million sounds like a bad business decision. The best they can hope for is that Pujols' decline doesn't start...
