Found April 11, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
The results of second baseman Scott Sizemore’s MRI came back yesterday, and it was more bad news for the veteran infielder. The Oakland Athletics have placed the 28-year-old on the disabled list with a tear of the ACL in his left knee – according to Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle – an injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Sizemore has torn his ACL again, what a huge disappointment. That's terrible news after last year. #Athletics — Susan Slusser (@susanslusser) April 11, 2013 Sizemore sustained his injury last Wednesday, while chasing down a pop up. He wasn’t showing signs of improvement, so the A’s sent him for an MRI. The team was prepared for the worst, but they were hoping the injury was simply torn scar tissue in the surgically repaired knee. Unfortunately for Sizemore and the A’s, the second baseman experienced a re-tear of the ACL in his left knee – the same knee he tore last year. He’ll again require reconstructive surgery, and it’s not a sure bet that he’ll be ready to go for the start of the 2014 campaign. In Sizemore’s absence, Oakland will use Eric Sogard at second base for the time being. They have second base prospect Jemile Weeks sitting in Triple-A, and he could see time in the majors at some point if the A’s aren’t satisfied with Sogard.
