In 1995 the Atlanta Braves won the World Series behind Greg Maddux, John Smoltz Tom Glavine and Steve Avery.  In 2013, its Tim Hudson, Mike Minor, Kris Medlen Paul Maholm and Craig Kimbrel.  The 11-1 Atlanta Braves swept the Washington Nationals this weekend in D.C. and outscored the Nats 18-5.  Chris Johnson has done a nice job filling in at first base for Freddie Freeman and picked up 8 hits this weekend scoring 4 times and driving in 3 runs.Justin Upton belted his 7th home run of the season on Sunday.  His brother B.J Upton added 3 of his 7 hits on the season on Sunday as well as the Braves beat down the Nationals and Gio Gonzalez.Craig Kimbrel picked up his 5th and 6th save of the season.  He has now pitched 6 innings, allowing just a single hit while striking out 6 batters.Bryce Harper had two consecutive hitless games for the first time all season, but he did add his 5th home run of the year. The Washington Nationals lost Danny Espinosa and Wilson Ramos this weekend.  Ramos pulled a hammy and was placed on the 15-Day DL while Espinosa left Sunday's game early, but X-Rays were negative.Roy Halladay bounced back nicely are two rough starts to beat the Miami Marlins.  Halladay lasted 8 innings allowing just 5 hits.  Jonathon Papelbon earned his 2nd and 3rd saves of the season.  The Philadelphia Phillies managed just 6 runs all weekend but took 2 out of 3 as the Marlins twice scored just 1 run.Marlins pitching prospect Jose Fernandez proved again that he is MLB material by shutting out the Phillies over 6 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5.  He out pitched Cole Hamels but the bullpen blew the win for him....again.The Colorado Rockies swept the San Diego Padres as Dexter Fowler reached base 7 times with 3 hits and 4 walks.  He hit his 5th and 6th home runs in the series opener.Carlos Gonzalez got a day off this weekend but in 7 official ABs, reached base 7 times.  He had 4 hits, including 2 doubles, walked 3 times, drove in a run and scored 3 times himself.Edinson Volquez struggles continue as he falls to 0-3 and owns an ERA over 11.  It is safe to bid adieu.Jhoulys Chacin has now made 3 starts and is 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.  He is worth adding to your roster for the long haul with the way the Rockies are swinging their bats but keep in mind he has beat the Padres twice now.  Rafeal Betancourt picked up his 4th and 5th saves of the season.Starlin Castro continues to back me up and help prove he is the #1 SS in baseball with 8 hits this weekend in a 4 game set with the San Francisco Giants.  Castro scored 3 times, hit 2 doubles and 2 home runs while driving in 4 runs.  The Giants took 3 out of 4 from the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley field.Nate Schierholtz continues to take advantage of his playing time and added 5 hits and a walk this weekend raising his BA to .343 and his OBP to .410.  Schierholtz is a must own in NL only leagues and a nice option in deeper mixed leagues. The Cubs bullpen continues to be a disaster and Shawn Camp got the save opportunity last night with Fujikawa on the DL as Carlos Marmol pitched in the 8th twice this weekend.  Camp blew the save and picked up the L as he allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in just 1.2 innings of work.  Kyuji Fujikawa also blew a save in this series but picked up the W before landing on the 15-Day DL with a forearm strain.Sergio Romo pitched 3 out of the 4 nights and picked up his 6th and 7th save, but did blow one in between.  He has now made 8 appearances and allowed a run in just this blown save.  He has 12 strike outs and 0 walks over 7.2 inningsMadison Bumgarner outdueled Jeff Samardzija on Saturday afternoon to improve to 3-0.  His ERA sits under 2 and his WHIP is under 1.  Samardzija has received just 6 runs in support of his 3 starts.Mitchell Boggs blew the save for Jaime Garcia last night as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in extra innings.  The Cardinals were looking for a 3 game sweep of the Brewers and shut them out for 24 innings before the Bullpen blew it.  Milwaukee managed just 6 hits over the first two games in which Adam Wainwright (CG SO) and Shelby Miller pitched beautifully.  They struck out 20 batters over 16 innings.  Boggs did pick up a save on Friday night.Brewers young SS Jean Segura picked up 4 more hits this weekend and now hitting .417 but will not play today due to a quad injury.Yovani Gallardo continued to struggle and if he wants to win 16 games again, like he did the last two seasons, he is going to have to step it up.  I would absolutely buy low on him.The Pittsburgh Pirates swept the Cincinnati Reds at home this weekend and the bats finally came alive as they outscored their division rivals 19-13.  A.J. Burnett pitched well enough to pick up a W in series opener but Tony Watson blew the save in the 7th inning.  Burnett added 8 strikeouts over 6 innings and now has 27 over 17 innings.  Jason Grilli added his 4th and 5th saves this weekend.Johnny Cueto was injured in his start on Saturday afternoon and landed on teh 15-Day DL with a tricep injury.Mat Latos also deserved a W yesterday but Jonathon Broxton gave up 6 earned runs and 2 home runs before getting 2 outs.Brandon Phillips had 4 hits in 10 ABs driving in 6 runs and hitting two home runs.Joey Votto only had 2 hits this weekend but he walked 8 times.  He hit his 1st home run of the season yesterday.Andrew McCutchen added 4 hits( a double and a home run), 4 RBI and 4 runs scored.Pedro Alvarez has just 3 hits on the season compared to 15 strikeouts.  Get rid of him.The Los Angeles Dodgers were shut out twice this weekend by Arizona Diamondbacks pitching but scored 7 runs in game 2.  Josh Beckett threw a complete game 8.1 innings last night picking up the L as Paul Goldschmidt hit a walkoff single.  The DBacks won 1-0 behind 7.1 innings of shut out ball from Trevor Cahill.Patrick Corbin beat Clayton Kershaw in the series opener as Arizona won 3-0.  Corbin is now 2-0 and over 12 innings has allowed just 11 hits.  He is a super streamer for sure!Adrian Gonzalez had back to back 3 hit nights, his 3rd in the Dodgers last 10 games and his 6th multi hit game over that same span.Cody Ross return to the Diamondbacks lineup this weekend and went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts.J.J. Putz picked up his first win and second save.Brandon League picked up his 4th save.
