The Braves, who took two of three from the Rays over the weekend, close out the road trip with four games at Cincinnati before coming home with three games against the Nationals. The Braves and Reds split their two-game series at Turner Field last week. Aroldis Chapman is the Reds new closer, taking over for Sean Marshall, who blew a save on Saturday. Chapman, who reached 100 mph in his appearance against the Braves last week, saved Sundays win over the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Braves are scheduled to face Stephen Strasburg for the first time in 2012. Theyve beaten him in both of his career starts against the Braves, one in 2010 and one last year. They have scored five runs in 10 13 career innings against Strasburg. The Nationals have had 10 players go on the DL this season, including closer Drew Storen, who isnt expected to return until July.
Martin Prado has hit in 11 of the past 12 games and is 22 of his past 49 (.449) to raise his average from .270 on May 1 to .323. Hes hitting .389 in May, with one home run, eight RBIs and three steals. Brian McCann has hit in seven of his past eight games and is hitting .381 with a home run and five RBIs in the past seven games. Hanson is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his past two starts. Hudson, fresh off his 7 23 shutout innings of the Rays, has allowed only three earned runs, 18 hits and four walks in his past 21 23 innings. Beachy is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA this month. Beachy, who pitched his first career shutout on Thursday, has allowed five earned runs in 28 13 innings in May and leads the majors with a 1.33 ERA. Closer Craig Kimbrel has six strikeouts and allowed one hit in his past five innings.
Dan Uggla is five for his past 25 (.200) with 10 strikeouts. Still, hes hitting .266 this season, compared to .190 at this point last year. Minor, who is scheduled to start tonight, is 0-2 with an 11.76 ERA in his past four starts. Hes given up at least six runs in each of those games, the longest streak in the majors since Kenny Rogers in 2008, according to ESPN. Jonny Venters and Christhian Martinez are both struggling out of the bullpen. Venters has allowed three runs in his past 2 13 innings (7.71 ERA) and needed a fluke play to work out of a jam on Sunday. Martinez has given up six runs in his past 6 13 innings, an 8.53 ERA.

He just turned 27, so Todd Redmond isnt considered a prospect, but hes 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA in his past three starts at Triple-A Gwinnett. Redmond, who is in his fourth season at Gwinnett, is 4-3 with a 2.63 ERA this season. 3B Joey Terdoslavich, who impressed the Braves during spring training, is struggling at Gwinnett. Hes hitting .197 with 15 RBIs. Jair Jurrjens, who gave up 10 earned runs in his past start, is scheduled to start for Gwinnett against Rochester tonight. OF Luis Durango is leading the International League with 20 stolen bases. SS Andrelton Simmons has nine steals for Double-A Mississippi.
