Injuries have hit the Milwaukee Brewers so hard even their manager is battling an ailment. Ron Roenicke was taken to a Chicago emergency room Tuesday morning when his back froze up at about 5:30 a.m. in his hotel room. According to the team, by late morning Roenicke was back at the hotel and doing fine. He is expected to manage Tuesday night against the Cubs. The news of Roenicke's trip to the hospital was first reported by WTMJ Radio in Milwaukee, as Roenicke's wife told the station he was unable to make his usual on-air appearance. Beginning in the offseason and then in spring training with Corey Hart and Mat Gamel suffering knee injuries, the Brewers have been blitzed by health issues. General manager Doug Melvin was stung by a scorpion in his Arizona home during spring training but avoided serious injury. Backup infielders Taylor Green and Jeff Bianchi had the start of their seasons delayed by trips to the 15-day disabled list, and Gamel is out for the season with a torn ACL. Since the season has started, third baseman Aramis Ramirez and left-hander Chris Narveson have gone on the 15-day disabled list, and left fielder Ryan Braun and shortstop Jean Segura have missed games with injuries. The Brewers were so short on the bench Sunday that starting pitcher Kyle Lohse had to pinch hit in the 11th inning with the tying run on third base and two outs. Follow Andrew Gruman on Twitter.
