Those Yankees really aren't good for anything, are they? The real story of the Rangers' loss, as it was Thursday night, was that one run scored. In Texas' last 16 losses, they have scored 1, 1, 4, 2, 0, 3, 2, 2, 1, 4, 3, 3, 1, 0, 3 and 1 run. You're obviously not going to win many games in which you score one run. But the game was lost in the seventh, an inning that Kevin Millwood started with 105 pitches under his belt. In previous seasons, he would likely not have even started the inning. Millwood was clearly not at his best at this point, as the three hitters who got him were Ryan Langerhans, a .242 hitter who he'd dispatched with ease earlier in the night, Rob Johnson, a .201 hitter (.199 coming into the game) whose home run was his first of the year in 139 AB, and Jack Hannahan, a .193 hitter in 119 AB with the A's before coming over to Seattle before last night's game.
