The difference between the game that ended the Reds' losing streak and the five games that constituted it? Two two-out hits. Chris Heisey's RBI single followed by Joey Votto's two-run double in the seventh were the difference in the Reds' 4-1 victory over the San Diego Padres in the final game of the 10-day 11-game road trip. "That's the difference every day" Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "In San Francisco we got a lot of those. In L.A. we got none. Here we got none. If you can get those two-out RBI knocks . . . They're hard to get and it breaks the back of the opponent. We got some big ones." The victory before a crowd of 26450 at Petco Park on a typical gorgeous San Diego day snapped a five-game losing streak in which the Reds scored a total of five runs. "Very relieved that it's over" Baker said. "We left a lot of runners out there again. We had a couple of baserunning miscues. We battled and battled and Homer (Bailey) gave us all we needed. Like I said before the the game the law of averages were on our side. "We'll have a great flight home take a day off take it easy. Lick our wounds so to speak and get back at it." Bailey (6-10) snapped a four-start losing streak -- he had not won since his no-hitter -- with a dominant performance. He went 8 1/3 innings and allowed one unearned run on five hits. He walked none and struck out seven. "He showed shear determination" Baker said. "He really really wanted it. We needed it and he needed it."
