Miguel Cabrera is generally accepted to be far and away the best pure hitter in baseball right now. However, perhaps the greatest (and most controversial) hitter of all-time is making sure that you remember he was better.
Major League Baseball’s single-season and career home run king, Barry Bonds, granted a rare telephone interview to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, and took the opportunity to compare himself with Cabrera. While Bonds does give the 2012 Triple Crown winner some due respect, he is making it clear who the better player was.
“I don’t try to compare me to anybody,” said Bonds. “I was the best on the field. I did more things than he did. My game was different than his game. So comparing him, to me, there’s no comparison.
“He doesn’t have my MVPs. He doesn’t have my numbers. Well, not yet, anyways. But does he have that ability? Yes, he does. Does he have that gift? Yes, he does.”
All that being said, Bonds isn’t completely dismissing Cabrera’s accomplishments. In fact, he gi

Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera is the best hitter on the planet, and quite possibly the best hitter of our generation. When he’s not hitting home runs, it appears he is scoping out the attractive girls in the stands. On Tuesday night during the Tigers game against the Cleveland Indians he got ready to toss a foul ball to a fan in the stands. A tattooed girl was...
Even though the Detroit Tigers lost to the Texas Rangers, 11-8, Miguel Cabrera put on quite a show at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Cabrera finished 4-4 on the night (one intentional walk) and also hitting three long balls back-to-back-to-back.
It’s either Cabrera or Albert Pujols for the best hitter in our era. I’d have to side with Cabby.
Detroit Tigers superstar Miguel Cabrera is on pace for perhaps a second Triple Crown. That impresses Barry Bonds, but Bonds still believes he's far better.

Miguel Cabrera is in search of another Triple Crown with the Detroit Tigers this year, and he certainly doesn’t need any help from his opponents along the way. Cabrera has hit five home runs in his last three games and has 13 on the season. Had it not been for a little assistance from Cleveland Indians center fielder Michael Bourn, his total...
Former outfielder and slugger Barry Bonds typically tries to stay away from the media as he has made it clear over the years that he does not enjoy talking to them. So when Bonds actually does decide to speak, it usually is something worth noting or at least being discussed. Bonds did a phone interview [...]
How red hot is Miguel Cabrera right now? Well, he turned a fly ball to the warning track Wednesday night into his fifth homer in three games, thanks to a huge assist from Cleveland’s Michael Bourn.
With the Tigers up 9-7 in the eighth inning, Cabrera smacked a high drive to deep right-center field. Bourn, though, raced back to the wall and had room to reach up and make the grab...

Miguel Cabrera continued his red hot hitting streak and Max Scherzer moved to 6-0 this season as the Detroit Tigers took the first of a quick 2 game series against...
Last night Miguel Cabrera got an assist from Cleveland Indians center fielder Michael Bourn. Cabrera really doesn’t need the help, but he will gladly take it when it comes to hitting a home run. After last year’s Triple Crown season Cabrera is off to an even better start this year. It is amazing to see the numbers he is putting up.

CLEVELAND (AP) --Justin Verlander overcame a rocky start and rain delay to get his fifth win and Miguel Cabrera hit another homer as the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 11-7 on Wednesday night, sweeping the two-game series between the AL Central's top teams.
Verlander (5-4) was two outs from qualifying for a victory, when the game was stopped with the Tigers leading...
As if Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera needs any help dialling long distance, however that is just what he got courtesy of Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Bourn. Miggy hits a deep fly ball to the warning track that bounces of Bourn’s glove for the assisted round tripper.

Honestly had no idea who Miguel was until he showed up on every site in the world during the evening. (And, sadly, it ain't Miguel Cabrera.) This time on BroBible via Guyism.

Just when we thought it was okay to give the 2013 MVP to the last year’s Triple Crown and MVP winner, Miguel Cabrera guess who decides to crash the party? Mike Trout, the sophomore sensation who finished second in the AL MVP vote last year. Trout had an answer to Cabrera’s recent tear by hitting for the cycle on Tuesday night against the Seattle Mariners...
