Hank Conger (C, ANA): The Angels Hank Conger (C, ANA) is an interesting prospect in that it still is not clear whether or not he will be able to stay behind the plate defensively. Conger – the 25thoverall pick in 2006 – is one of the better offensive-minded catchers in the minors and had a career minor league batting line of .295/.347/.466. Unfortunately injuries have limited his development defensively. Conger was finally healthy in 2009 and for the first time since being drafted was able to play over 100 games in a season. Behind the plate Conger is not particularly agile, but he does have a strong, accurate throwing arm and the Angles have not given up on him as a major league catcher. It will be interesting to see how he fares under the scrutiny of the AFL, but if Conger does manage to stick behind the plate, his bat has the potential to make him a valuable commodity.
