Triple-A Empire State: L 2-4 vs Rochester. L: Whitley (1-1)

Kevin Russo: 1/4, BB, 2 K, CS (1) (.275)
Francisco Cervelli: 3/5, R, K (.162). That’s more like it Frankie, I hope you’re out of that little funk you were in.
Colin Curtis: 0/4, BB, 2 K (.244)
Brandon Laird: 0/2 (.222)
Ray Kruml: 1/4, RBI, SB (1) (.174)
Dewayne Wise didn’t play in this one after being pulled from yesterday’s game mysteriously, injury?
Chase Whitley: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 K (4.05). Still good on the strikeouts, but that’s too many hits.

Double-A Trenton: W 6-2 vs Erie. W: Marshall (2-1)

“Honest” Abe Almonte: 3/3, 3 R, 2B, HR (1), RBI, 2 BB, 2 SB (3) (.262) Can’t have much better of a day than that.
Ronnier “Musketeer” Mustelier: 2/3, RBI, BB, K, SB (2) (.349) Rakin’ like it’s the fall. Yesterday I suggested he should stop stealing, so you have to respect the continued aggression, especially since today he was successful.
Zoilo Almonte: 1/5, R, 2B, RBI, 2 K (.273)
Luke Murton: 1/4, 2 RBI (.182)
Melky Mesa: 1/5, 2B (.286)
Dan Brewer: 1/1 (.172). Pulled after his first AB for unknown reason.
Walt Ibarra: 2/4, R, 2B, RBI, SB (1) (.314). Since he’s relatively light hitting, he’s gotta pick up the tempo on those stolen bases.
Brett “Fire” Marshall: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K (5.4 ERA). Much better outing. Hopefully the last one was an aberration.
Ryan Flannery: 1 IP, 0 ER, BB, K (1.29 ERA). Very steady and consistent throughout his career.

High-A Tampa: W 2-1 vs Clearwater. W: Montgomery (1-1). Won in the bottom of the 9th inning on a walk off hit by JR Murphy

Eddy Sosa: 0/4, RBI (.213)
Kelvin Castro: 0/4, 3 K (.222)
Ramon Flores: 1/4, K (.195)
Rob Segedin: 0/4, K (.283)
Neil Medchill: 1/4, R, 3B, 3 K (.316)
JR “Murph” Murphy: 3/4, R, RBI (.270). The lone bright spot in the offense today, and he didn’t even have an extra base hit.
Jose Mojica: 0/3, K (.361)
Shane Greene: 5.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 4 BB, 5 K (3.00 ERA). Love the strikeouts, hate the walks, content with the overall outing.
Brandon Pinder: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, BB, 3 K (3.24 ERA). Love the strikeouts, hate the WHIP, love the results.
Mark “Monte Python” Montgomery: 1 IP, H, 0 ER, K (2.84 ERA). Love everything.

Low-A Charleston: W 7-3 vs. Augusta. W: Wetherell. Won in extra innings with a huge 11th inning.

Mason Williams: 1/5, 2 R (.315). Hit streak now at 11 games, starting with game one of the season.
Ben Gamel: 2/6, 2B, 2 RBI, K, CS (1) (.244) Nice two-hit game after a series of 1/4′s and 1/5′s
Dante Bichette Jr: 1/4, RBI, K (.311). Pulled at some point for pinch hitter Casey Stevenson.
Casey Stevenson: 1/1, R (.455)
Tyler Austin: 2/4, R, BB (.450) Can anyone in Low-A get this guy out? His followers are starting to become so rabid that I am going to start calling them the “Austinites,” which is also what people who reside in Austin, Texas, are called.
Gary Sanchez: 1/5, R, K (.364). Kept his now 6 game hit streak intact with a late hit.
Angelo Gumbs: 0/3, R, 2 BB, K (.167)
Cito Culver: 1/5, 3 K (.136)
Anderson Feliz: 2/5, 2 RBI, 2 K (.297)
Caleb “Gotham City” Cotham: 4 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 5 K (2.08 ERA)
Wilton Rodriguez: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, 3 K (2.7 ERA). First bad appearance of the season.
Phil Wetherell: 3 IP, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (1.00 ERA). Brilliant work in relief to keep the team in contention.

Rumor: Yankees not planning extension talks with Martin

As is their usual style, the Yankees don’t plan on discussing an extension with Russell Martin, who will be a free agent after this year, during the season, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. This is not much of a surprise, but the latest trend in baseball is to lock up players before they hit the market so it’s not crazy to check in on this. As long as there are other...

A look at Yankees infielder Eduardo Nunez

Of all the high-priced talent and personalities who may or may not live up to their reputations on the 2012 Yankees, one player in particular seems to incessantly enrage the fan base.  Any moment he takes the field, the fans see him as an accident waiting to happen.  Debuting with the Yanks in 2010, Eduardo Nunez has been somewhat of an enigma. Touted in the minors as a defensive...

Hughes focusing on making fastball a priority again

After struggling for a year and a half in the rotation, Phil Hughes earned himself some praise this spring for the way he pitched, but most fans, myself included, have all but written him off by this point and are counting down the days until Andy Pettitte and Michael Pineda will come back to knock him out of the rotation. Pettitte and Pineda aren’t back yet though so for now...

Fans Running Onto The Field: Scary Possibilities

Last night at Yankee Stadium someone ran out onto the field during the Twins-Yankees game. Just as other TV networks do, the YES Network cameras did not show the jerk in action.
