Mike Pound of the Joplin Globe says, "You got to admire Royals’ fans" in response to their dedication of battling through the recent twelve game losing streak. Many of us believe the Royals are better than the team's 6-14 record. Many fans even felt like the end of the losing streak meant the inevitable beginning of a long winning streak. Let us hope these eternal optimists are correct. Currently riding a three game winning streak, following Friday night's 7-6 victory over the Minnnesota Twins, the Royals have officially sent the Twins to the cellar of all of MLB. Sitting at 5-15, the Royals handed the despised title over to their division rivals. Once again, the Royals bats came through on the night with a first inning two run home run from Alex Gordon after Jarrod Dyson reached base on an error to open the game and a third inning solo home run from Billy Butler. Butler singled home Gordon in the fifth. Then in the eighth inning, Mike Moustakas knocked ho...

A Royals Fan for Life

This is a lifetime contract. Being born in 1985 was no coincidence. It was a special year for me and the best year in Kansas City Royals baseball history. So how was it that a kid from Omaha, Nebraska (home of the beloved Omaha Royals, check that Storm Chasers? A topic for another day...) became such a dedicated Royals fan? It didn't start with me following the World Series...

Royals giving Dyson a long look

Center fielder Jarrod Dyson is getting a second and extended chance with the Kansas City Royals. Dyson was recalled from Class AAA Omaha and immediately inserted into the lineup as the leadoff hitter Friday night in a 7-6 victory over the Twins. Dyson went 1-for-5 and scored a run as the Royals won their third straight after ending a 12-game losing streak Wednesday at Cleveland...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Alex Gordon and Billy Butler each hit a two-run homer and the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 7-6 on Friday night for their third straight win. Mike Moustakas delivered the go-ahead single in the eighth inning and Alcides Escobar added an RBI single three batters later for Kansas City, which had lost 12 straight before beginning its winning streak...

Long way to go

This past week the Kansas City Royals ended a twelve game losing streak. A streak that was so bad it included a winless ten game home stand. Twelve games! That’s hard to do. The Royals have had more double digit losing streaks than any other team in Major League Baseball history! As Royals fans we’ve come to expect stuff like this, but for some reason this losing streak was especially...

Royals still hope 'potential' can produce wins

MINNEAPOLIS Before the 2012 baseball season, the Kansas City Royals adopted the promotional slogan "Our Time," the supposed harbinger of a team that saw itself threatening the Tigers in the AL Central and laying waste to a years-long losing tradition. Twenty games in, "Our Time" has yielded six wins and fourteen losses. "Our Time" has seen the Royals...

Royals allow Giants to claim Mijares

The Kansas City Royals have allowed left-handed reliever Jose Mijares to leave for the San Francisco Giants on a waiver claim and have recalled left-hander Francisley Bueno from Triple-A Omaha. The Royals announced the moves before Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Mijares was 2-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 51 relief appearances. He spent his first four seasons with Minnesota...

Chen struggles in Royals' 7-4 loss to Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Josh Willingham had three hits and came a homer away from hitting for the cycle to help the Minnesota Twins snap their six-game losing streak by beating the Kansas City Royals 7-4 Sunday. Jason Marquis (2-0) threw six strong innings for Minnesota, who also got three hits and a pair of RBIs from Danny Valencia. Bruce Chen (0-3) had his worst outing of the season...

Twins, Royals look to emerge from last place

By MIKE LIPKA, STATS EditorAs the two teams tied for the AL's worst record begin a weekend series, one of them is probably feeling a bit better than the other. The visiting Kansas City Royals look to win a third straight game for the first time in 2012 on Friday night while extending the Minnesota Twins' skid to six. Both of these clubs are 5-14, but the Royals are hoping...

Turning Point

Maybe it only makes sense that the Kansas City Royals would have to overcome a 12-game losing streak before making their first playoff push in 27 years. After all, this is a franchise that overcame 3-1 series deficits not just once, but twice in 1985. In fact, they are still the only team to ever do that in both the LCS and the World Series.  Before that, the Royals lost to the...
