St. Louis Cardinals veteran right fielder Lance Berkman will be the designated hitter in Saturday's Game 3 of the World Series against the Texas Rangers.
The DH will come into play as the series shifts to the American League park for the next three games of the best-of-seven series.
Allen Craig, who had go-ahead, pinch-hit singles in Games 1 and 2, will start in right field for St. Louis.
The series is tied at one game apiece after Texas rallied for two runs in the ninth inning for a 2-1 victory in Game 2 on Thursday night.
