Angel Berroa was released by the Dodgers today, and Jamie Hoffmann will be making a return to the squad after being cut by the Yankees.

Rule 5 Draft pick Jamie Hoffman was returned Monday by the Yankees to the Dodgers, who also released infielder Angel Berroa.

Hoffman, a 25-year-old right-handed hitter, had a 14-game callup to the Dodgers last year after starting the season at Double-A Chattanooga. He was the first overall pick in the Rule 5 Draft by the Nationals for a fee of $50,000 and was immediately traded to the Yankees. He was offered back by the Yankees to the Dodgers, who paid $25,000 to reacquire him. Hoffman figures to play for Triple-A Albuquerque.
Most interesting part about this though?

The Dodgers are satisfied that Chin-lung Hu can handle shortstop for an extended time, if needed.
I'm not quite sure I buy that, because even I wouldn't be satisfied with that, but he's a good defensive reserve for sure.

Eric Stephen is breaking news about a move I couldn't find anywhere else.

Alfredo Amezaga, who hasn't yet played this spring, was reassigned to minor lg camp by #Dodgers (down to 42 in big lg camp incl Belisario)

Things are shaping up. It's actually 41 now though, since that was posted before Berroa was gone.
