Hiroki Kuroda entered Friday night as one of the hottest pitchers in baseball, but as many pitchers before him have found out, Fenway Park can bring any hot streak to an end. Kuroda watched his New York Yankees teammates stake him to a five-run lead before he took the mound, but he gave it all back in the bottom of the first, surrendering five runs before he recorded his third out. "I got run support in the first inning, but I couldn't hold onto the lead," Kuroda said through his interpreter. "I just didn't do my job tonight. You have to hold onto the lead, or else the momentum is going to shift their way, and I just couldn't do that." Kuroda, who was 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA in his previous seven starts, allowed a run in the second to make it a 6-6 game, but he and Josh Beckett carried the tie score into the fifth. Boston scored another run in the fifth to take a 7-6 lead, and Kuroda was able to get two outs in the sixth before manager Joe Girardi t...

Darnell McDonald still had dreadlocks on Fenway scoreboard

Former Boston Red Sox player Darnell McDonald got polite applause during his first appearance at Fenway Park even while donning the hated New York Yankees pinstripes.  But the electronic scoreboard operator might have had been having a little fun when he super-imposed a Yankee cap over the dreadlocked head of the player during the game. Deceased Yankees owner George Steinbrenner...

Recap: Sox make Freddy Garcia look like Justin Verlander, lose

Yankees have had no problems rounding the bases this weekend. (Photo by Winslow Townson/Getty Images) This one wasn't very pretty.  Yankees starter Freddy Garcia baffled Sox batters with his array of 70 and 80 MPH pitches, while Franklin Morales baffled no one.  The result: a solid 6-1 beating by the Yankees. The Sox came out flat, aided by another huge 1st inning by the...

The Sox are 42-40, 7 1/2 games...
