Up and down, up and down. The season continues to roll on. Saturday’s game was a bit of a microcosm of the Diamondbacks season in many respects. Poor starting pitching, some clutch hitting, a bullpen letdown. All that was missing was a furious comeback as the Diamondbacks fell hard to Atlanta, 11-5.

Atlanta Braves News: Optimism High Halfway Through Season

The Atlanta Braves have continued to play excellent baseball more often than not in the 2013 season, something that was obvious in the team’s three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks to stretch their lead in the NL East to 6 1/2 games, which is currently the largest division lead in all of baseball. Indeed, this latest series against the D-Backs was as good as it gets, as it...

Chopcast: Is Mike Minor still on All-Star pace?

ATLANTA -- After posting double-digit wins for the first time in 2012, Braves starter Mike Minor still has an opportunity to hit the 10-win plateau before the All-Star break this season. That's the type of improvement Atlanta has seen out of the young left-hander during the first half of the season -- not to mention his second-half run last year. But the question of whether...

Why is Justin Upton Struggling?

The difference between a decent hitter and a great hitter is consistency. It's a pretty simple concept that has held true through history, but that has not stopped us all from proclaiming a decent hitter as great during their streaks and pitiful during their slumps. The 2013 version of that player is Justin Upton. Upton started the season as the next big thing, hitting 12 home...

Pena played in 50 games this year and hit .278 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 97 at-bats...

D-backs, Upton renew acquaintances in Atlanta

Last month, the Diamondbacks hosted their former cornerstone, as Justin Upton returned to Phoenix in an Atlanta Braves uniform. This weekend, it's Upton's turn to play host as the D-backs meet the Braves for three games. Upton has cooled off since a red-hot start that had D-backs fans lamenting the trade of its young franchise player. On the D-backs side, starting pitcher...
