Tommy Hanson made his delayed spring debut for the Atlanta Braves after sustaining a mild concussion in an auto accident in February and gave up three runs to the Toronto Blue Jays in a game between split squads. After three rain delays, the game was called in the top of the third inning. Hanson said he was having a hard time gripping the ball. He allowed two hits and walked one, and gave up a two-run homer to Toronto's Jeff Mathis. Hanson went 11-7 last year with 22 starts. He has started 77 games in the past three seasons for the Braves. Hanson said he felt like he was rounding into shape and had no concerns about being ready for opening day. He threw 28 pitches, 11 for strikes.

Braves start slow. Everyone panic!! On second thought, don’t.

By Andrew Hirsh The Atlanta Braves have stumbled out of the gate this Spring Training, opening up their Grapefruit League schedule with an underwhelming 1-9 record, currently the worst in the MLB. Dan Uggla is one of the few Braves off to a fast start: .313, 1 HR in 16 AB's) It may feel natural to look at the numbers—both of the team and of individuals—and begin to worry...

Today, he breaks down the pitching talent in the Braves’ system. With Mike Minor graduating from prospect status, the ‘Big Four’ are now the ‘Elite Three’. Julio Teheran...

2012 burning question: Atlanta Braves

From my Braves season preview earlier today... Burning QuestionWill Jason Heyward be able to reclaim his 2010 form and carry the team to a playoff berth, or were his struggles in 2011 the signs of a bigger problem? Personally, I think he'll be fine in 2012 because of the shoulder that plagued him in 2011, but if he struggles out of the gate, the Braves mob could begin to mobilize...

Could this season be it for Chipper Jones?

The soon to be 40-year old Chipper Jones spoke to reporters today which included David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and hinted that this season may be his last. “Tomorrow might be my last day,” he said “I don’t know. I don’t really focus on it that much. The body is starting to tell me every morning when I wake up that it’s getting close. I’m signed...
